I'll take the color photo. Shows a bit more detail.

That's a family portrait I wouldn't mind having. Nicely done.

How did the conversation switch to a 24-70. Thought the question posed was regarding the difference between two canon lenses, both 24-105. Just saying.

How often do you feel the need to update your camera? (Lenses are for me a one time purchase) Why do you feel the need to buy the newest upgrades? How old is your current camera?

Bought the Canon 7D mark ll when it came out, mostly for BIF. Been very happy with it but am considering acquisition of a full frame as macro and landscape are being added to my "hobby".

That has got to be one of the all time great photos of the "great egret" I have seen.

That's the only information useful after the picture is taken. Compose in the
viewfinder, assess exposure with the histogram.

Thanks Jerry! I had more than an hour drive to the refuge and didn't make a priority to be there as first light. Most of the suggestions I employed. I had two bodies but didn't mount a lens to the 2nd body. Maybe I'll add that change as well. I wasn't that "determined" on preparations and maybe that also impacted the results.

Love the detail you captured and a wonderful grouping. Thinking about my trip to Bosque and how suprised I was at the massive size of the flocks on the ponds. I know I was disappointed that in shooting the birds taking off I couldn't really get the full impact of the numbers. So for your thought on second camera I heartily agree but thinking something more in the 200-300 range might be a good backup. I look forward to seeing how it goes as I hope to be there in January myself. Tom

I have a subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud Lightroom and Photoshop; and I just bought the Intuos Pen and Touch Photo tablet which came with a free copy of Corel Paint Shop Pro X8 and After Shot Pro 2.

Is there anything the Corel software can do that Adobe can't, or that it does better?

I have Corel and after shot pro 2, also have the light room and photoshop subscription. I have not found anything that Corel does better than Adobe. 97% of my pp is done with light room, it keeps getting better.

Hopefully, Murphy's Camera does not follow Murphy's Law. Murphy's Law states that if anything can go wrong, it will go wrong.

Nice posting, made me a bit sad but then again, isn't it great that you were able to evoke emotion with the photos? Well done.

I used the brush to darken the back ground in light room, plus a crop, could have made it black.

I want to get a good DSLR maybe on Black Friday deals. Nikon probably but not married to that. I see kits with all different lenses, cases etc on line. I am a novice although I have experience with an old Canon Rebel. Please any advice, things to look for, things to avoid, how many mp what lenses— anything appreciated. Thanks. Irishgirl

Hello Irish, a lot of questions to be asked before an answer can be given. What are you hoping to photograph, budget constraints, and so forth. The more info you can give the more appropriate responses will be.
