Has anyone had experience with Murphy's Camera in Louisville, Kentucky? I'm thinking about trading my Nikon D600 for a new D750 with the free battery grip that's on sale right now. My D600 is 4 years old and in perfect condition. They quoted $400 trade in value for my camera. I can send it into Amazon where I can possibly get a $500-$650 gift card for trade in value, but I'm not sure if I want to pack it up and send it off. Also, I would rather support a local dealer if they are reputable. So, is Murphy's a reputable dealer and do you think $400 is a reasonable trade in value? Thanks!

Recent ebay sales. Take lots of good pictures of it, write a good description, with shutter count, and you'll have you money in a week.

You might want to check out these guys for comparison. I have done business with them in the past and they do a good job. I live in Lexington, and deal with Murphy's here occasionally. I've never been to the Louisville stores, but they're pretty straight up and easy to work with in Lexington. You could get a second opinion from the guy who owns Roberts Camera in Indianapolis. Apparently, he's friends with the guy who owns Murphy's.

Thanks. I got a quote for the trade in from Roberts also. They offered $100 more than Murphys.

Robert's will give an estimate via the Internet, so you can get a quick comparison without shipping it anywhere.

I live close to Murphy’s and have dealt with them for many years. They’re an excellent source for all things photographic.

Just bought an Olympus TG-5 from Murphy's via Amazon. I chose Murphy's because of the high percentage of positive reviews.

Camera arrived as advertised, but several days late due to holiday shipping congestion. Not Murphy's fault and I am satisfied.

A dealer will not be able to give you the same in trade as you could get selling it yourself.

I have purchased numerous items from Murphy's and have been satisfied with their willingness to match prices. They follow through on promises. support local businesses when I can.

Hopefully, Murphy's Camera does not follow Murphy's Law. Murphy's Law states that if anything can go wrong, it will go wrong.

I assume that you have thoroughly exhausted the pros and cons of upgrading to the D750. Having said that, I personally do see enough pros to convince me to make the switch. I'll stick with my D600.
