Had one in our home for several years; the original owners - murder/suicide. Four people, three of whom were “guests”, saw, felt, heard, talked with her. No “poltergeistish” activity, or any of the other stuff you usually hear about. After a while, she apparently moved on.

Not an engineer - but, google tries to be helpful.
As we all know, engineers are not in the habit of giving simple, understandable answers.
My best guess at a translation of what I just read, the bends and curves help to maintain the integrity of the pipeline.
