For those of you with Nikon F mount cameras and lenses, are you planning to stay with the F mount, or are you planning to switch over to Z mount gear? And, what are your thoughts/reasons for either option? I guess there is a third choice, that is, to build a collection of both F and Z systems. Another question is more speculative: Do you think Nikon will support both systems for the long term, or will they drop F mount gear before long? Frank

No editor has a digital version of lens tilt. If you needed to be told that, you have no use of a tilt lens right now.

IOW don’t buy it. You can get used shift-only lenses pretty reasonably. I don’t recall a 45 shift-only, but the 35 is not too hard to find. Even a green noob can manage shift-only, right outa the box.

User ID, if you had sent this reply to me I would feel condescended to. Obviously, not all members of UHH have your level of knowledge about photography, but to point that out as part of your reply is a put down. Frank

Typical children at age 7 are learning counting, addition and subtraction, usually via concrete experiences. Multiplication and division are usually introduced at ages 8 and 9. Confronting young children with learning tasks they cannot understand and whose brains are not developed enough to embrace is not the best teaching technique! Abstract thinking skills are not usually present at age 7. Understanding the definition of a right angle involves also understanding that a complete circle consists of 360 degrees and that any angle of > or < than 90 degrees is not a right angle. Finding a 7 year old child who engages in this level of abstract thinking would be a rare find indeed. Perhaps the most intelligent of the top 1% whose parents are engineers!! Frank

Thanks for everyone chiming in on my last topic. Sorry I couldn’t answer everyone individually.

I had another challenge recently.

I shot a real quick wedding (due to Covid). There were only a few shots of a quick ceremony.

The bride didn’t like the photos.

You see, the place was not well lit and my camera does not handle noise well so I used an 85 mm 1.4 lens at 1.4 but not for every shot just most of the shots.

I was creative about it showing the groom in focus with the bride out of focus in the background. Also shots like the bride holding out the bouquet with the flowers in focus and her out of focus. The bokeh was very nice. There were several shots with a different lens where everything was much more in focus.

She was upset because the pictures were “blurry and out of focus”. What I suddenly realized was that she was very left-brained so to speak and for her everything had to be in focus or it was a bad picture.

What do you do with people who don’t understand art and things like bokeh. My website shows plenty of shots with bokeh. But I’ve run into people who don’t understand things like soft focus and creative shots showing things like just the back of the dress or just their hands holding or his face cut off showing just his chin with her head leaning on his shoulder out of focus. Stuff like that.

I did not get a chance to sit down with the bride and groom and get a feel for them because he called me at the last minute and there was no time. I had served him before by photographing everyone in his office. He’s a great guy.

He liked the bokeh but she did not. She saw my website so she got a feel for my style.

I was really nervous because he is a lawyer. But he is the nicest guy in the world and he said he understood that it was a difference in artistic interpretation.

I remember another left brained person like that one time I fully decorated my studio and it was beautiful and I asked one of my clients how she liked it and everything was beautiful and she looked around and she said one of the ceiling tiles was out of place and that was her whole impression of everything. That was her comment about how beautiful the studio looked.

Left brained people?
Thanks for everyone chiming in on my last topic. S... (show quote)

I think you are over using the term “left brained people.” True, the left hemisphere of the brain is more involved in logical/mathematical thinking, whereas the right hemisphere is more intuitive and creative. The corpus callousness connects the two and allows an individual to engage in both processes. Furthermore, both types of mental activity have contributed importantly to society. Last point: I have yet to meet an individual who functioned solely via their left or right brain. I would argue that everyone is capable of some degree of both rational/quantitative and intuitive/creative thinking. Interestingly, language is mainly a left hemisphere function. Think of all the creative ways people use language!

I could save some diabetes test strip canisters for you. They are smaller than a film canister but well built with snap tight lids on a plastic hinge. They are 1" diameter and 2" tall.

I have gotten a promise for as many canisters as I need. Thank you.

Thank you. I at least will pay for packaging and shipping and some for the canisters as well. If you ship I will send you cash, or I can make a payment to your Pay Pal account, however you wish to do this. Frank

Then why would you wand the clear type? Med bottles are tinted for a reason.

The white ones allow a small amount of light to pass through, thus are translucent, not transparent, I simply prefer them, although I do use some black canisters. Frank

Not what you asked for,...but will throw it out there for the collectors in the group.

I have several of the real old aluminum ones with the screw off caps.

I have several sets also of the same aluminum ones taped together bottom/ to/ bottom that actually still have unused spools of film still inside.

Thank you, I prefer the plastic — I use them for daily meds while traveling.

Yes, and are only old men decrepit, or are younger men decrepit too?
