Thanks Todd - I would pull my hair out trying to make a decision on what to do (that is if I had any hair), I am kind of leading to the 1DX but still kicking back and forth which way to go. One of these days I will just get on the laptop and make the order and hope that it makes me happy. Just not sure how long it is going to take me to make that decision. Hopefully soon.... THANKS FOR YOUR REPLY

Actually following a hockey player down the ice at 12 FPS would be kind of nice, but not that important. I don't actually use the 6FPS that often, more single shot. I know I would use it "sometimes", but I don't use that as a difference maker though.

I have been a Canon user for a long time currently using a 7D MII and very happy with it. Most of my photography is with a local Professional Hockey Team (Game Photos), other misc. photography. However I have been getting an "itch" for a new camera, although the 7D MII is working great.

I am trying to make up my mind which way to go, either a Canon EOS 1D MII or Canon EOS 5D MIV. They both seem to be great cameras, although there is quite a price difference, and quite similar in operation with a few differences. I have read and researched everything I can find about both cameras, but just can't make a decision. The 1DX MII priced at $6299 (Kit - Body Only) and the 5DMIV $3499 (Body Only). The cost difference tends to push me to the 5DMIV, but because I would like this to be my last Camera purchase, I just can't make a decision.

My question to all, is the EOS 1DMII really worth the additional $3000?

Thanks Kevin the EOS-1DXMark III is certainly out of my price range also, which is why I am looking at what experiences others have had with it before I make a final decision. I currently use the 7D MII and very happy with it, but just thought it would be neat to try out another camera. I know, kind of goofy, but then that is what keeps this old guy going....! Have a great day Kevin, will let everyone know what my decision is.

Thanks for the warning - although do you feel the additional cost is worth the full frame camera?

OK Everyone, this is probably a stupid question but over the years I have never used a camera with "full frame". So what is there a huge difference with a Full Frame camera?

Been reading this site for quite a while but never got in to join it. Well now I have. 75 here - retired, just enjoying retirement. Been hobby photographer for probably 60 years, started with a little "brownie" and had many various cameras since. While serving in the Air Force in the early 60's in Germany in addition to my regular job as a guided missile technician, I also operated the Photo Hobby shop on the base at Hahn, Germany. Did a lot of training on how to develop and print pictures and also served as photo director on various sponsored trips around Europe. Back to today - over the last 15 years I have had a great job as the main game photographer for a local Professional hockey team (Knoxville Ice Bears). Currently use a Canon 7D MII and very happy with it. However also considering trying a Canon EOS-1D X Mark II. I know it is much more expensive, but think it might be a great camera to give a try. Have had 6 previous Canon cameras and been very happy with all of them, just thinking about a new toy! Other than hockey photographer also do a lot of photography in the local mountains which I truly enjoy. My question is - what type of opinions do you all have regarding the Canon EOS-1D X Mark II?

Hope to hear from everyone. (Personal web site: http://www.wknox.net)
