Interestig! How so? Just curious- never experience an issue as long as the flash unit covers the field of view.

I couldn't find any literature on that specific relationship.

Really? Think about it. The light pattern matches the area being photographed.

If you are only using one flash mounted on-camera, having the light pattern matching the sensor shape is helpful.

Thaz such nonsense. Your lens is round and thaz what really matters.

Your sensor is rectangular - THAT'S what matters

I am curious, what are the advantages/disadvantages of round flash heads (like the Godox V1) over the traditional type?

I use the traditional type with a bracket (Vello CB-100) that keeps the head in the same orientation as the camera sensor.

I use Syncback. In one selectable mode it scans the folders you previously selected and updates the files that have changed and leaves the others alone.

Need a little help… seems like I’ve forgotten something Tell me if I’m correct and if not please set me straight
Attempting to get the detail of the subject against the background
1. Light (white, creme etc) subject against a dark background equal a negative ex comp
2. Light subject against light background equal a zero or plus exp comp
3. Dark subject against dark background equals plus exp comp
4. Dark subject against lighter or bright background equals a zero or minus exp comp
5. Subject in front of a bright or dark no curtained window equals a negative exp comp.
Thanks for setting me straight

1 yes
2 yes
3 opposite - camera will overexpose
4 yes
5 yes

it is more important how bright or dark. If the overall content isn't average brightness, the camera will try to make it average.
It also depends on the subject. As an example, if in #5 you want outside properly exposed, you might need to expose minus, but if the interior is the subject, plus.

You need to click "quote reply" under the person you are thanking as I did here or it just becomes a general comment.

Silkypix. It may be available for download on the Panasonic site. If not, google "Silkypix Panasonic".

EDIT - Apparently it's now PhotoFunStudio, available for download HERE.

I have Photo Fun Studio and don't care for it. I find it inadequate for even simple editing, I can't figure out how to select only photos from a specific date or not yet downloaded for transfer to PC.

Being a Canon user I can't speak Sony models, BUT for bird photography I prefer an APS-C model and so I use my R7. However, I see no Sony APS-C in the same class as the A1.

It's an APS-C. Not full frame.

I looked it up and it appears it is somewhere in-between, An APS-H sensor, 27.9 x 18.6mm! That gives it a 1.3 crop factor rather than the Canon APS-C of 1.6.

I can't speak for the EL series, I am successfully using an older 550EX on my R7. I made a point to look for the contacts on the R7 that are for the newer features of the EL series and it is there, under a protective lip. So one would think the adapter isn't required, but I'm not sure. Contact Canon or a reputable reseller for a definitive answer.

I have had two non-full size cameras. One is a Canon 1D Mk IV, and the other is an SX-50. I tend to print large - rarely smaller than 12x18. Both of these cameras have performed well at that size and above. I have made 36x40 of all but the SX-50. Frankly, I don't know the size of any of the sensors in my cameras. If the lens is sharp, and I can hold the camera still, I get as large as I'd ever want to go, probably.

The Canon 1D Mk IV IS a full frame camera. I have no idea what you mean by full size.

From my experience, there is no way to post to Facebook and retain high resolution. I either use email or Dropbox to send high resolution copies of photos.

Why did you sell the 430EX? I still use my old 550EX on my R7. It works as well as always. If we know what you didn't like about the 430, we might make a better suggestion.
