To all who question the metering, please explain why. The camera meter read the same for both shots. It set the same exposure for both shots. It is not a question of reading darker or lighter areas.
It doesn't appear that the light changed that much between shots.

The responses to this post just illustrate how far beyond critical thinking the responders have gone. This was an ironical post. Does nobody understand this? I feel sad about what this says about the level of intelligence of the average UHH member.

I know that this a little soft, but perhaps that suits the subject. Critiques are welcome.

Only in America could such an unamerican, unchristian, unethical, and--with Roy Moore-- totally amoral administration get away with calling itself pro- American.
That's an enigma.

All cameras today give you an 8x10. It's right there in the middle of your picture. All you have to do is lop the ends off.

Okay ... so what's your pick for the ideal format camera to provide the - Perfect 8x10 withOUT cropping, Pen?

What, are you stupid?

No problem ... other than a gross misunderstanding of the question, which was:

In Pursuit of - The Perfect 8x10, w/o cropping ... what's YOUR solution?

followed by THIS Lead Post:

All answers are acceptable (other than the 8x10 view camera) - just be sure to add the appropriate math to come up with your choice - okay?

I gave you the math.

I knew this sounded familiar, SX ... you copied it from JPL ...

If I wanted to crop, I would ... but my compositions are usually right on the mark, to begin with ... so I wouldn't have any idea where to even begin the cropping procedure ....

I'd far rather be steered in the right direction so that I can obtain the necessary hardware to attain a Perfect 8x10 withOUT cropping!

Which is the objective, here ....

Simply print on larger paper and trim. What on Earth is the problem here?

You do know that you can print a full 8x10 on letter size? And you do know that larger sheets
can be cut down? Why on Earth is this question even posted?

Perhaps, it would've been better if I had phrased the lead question a little differently .... maybe it should've been like this:

Which medium format camera comes closest to attaining the "Perfect 8x10" ... 645, 6x7, 6x9 or some other not named?

8x10 is .80 ratio short divided by long side, or 1.25 the other way. Do the math! See what comes closest to that!
By the way, no popular formats are at the golden ratio.

You are free to choose your rectangles in any way you want. And I am free to choose mine showing other ratios. All of this is meaningless.

The golden ratio is 1:1.618. It is important in Western composition of art, design and architecture. It involves the Fibonacci sequence and is what the "rule of thirds" is derived from.

The rule of thirds is actually derived from thirds. It is not in any way related to the golden ratio. And the golden ratio is not in any way involved in most art or architecture. It is simply the number that any series, not just the Fibonacci, of that form trends to.
