It's very candid of you to admit you know crap about photography . I guess you used the software first and are going to learn about camera control later . F stops, shutter speeds and all that other stuff you use to make a picture .
Still life , flowers , brown toned . Part of Holga project
My parents, in 1954, gave me a Kodak Duaflex . I looked at it and knew that I could record any thing I saw .Great. Off I went ,photographing and never looked back . I still use a Duaflex , not the same one, to record the image as I see it. Love what comes out of these cameras . Have two, use all the time.
CHICAGO, what's that all about. Who is protesting black on black murder ? NO one.
What other cameras have you used before your new one? Cool pics.
First I think we should learn how to make a good photograph . After all this is all about photography, right ?
Looking back I'll tell you what I should have done and what you should do to make it past 20 years which I could not do as a commercial photographer. #1 Don't get married . #2 Don't own a house. #3 impress people with the best camera & lighting you can buy even if you have to go into hock .Art directors love seeing all shinning things and playing with them. # 4 Get an agent who won't sell the bus. from under you when you start making some money. Find a pretty young woman , dress her in rental furs and send her out to drum up work. Art directors like this to . A high end car rental helps also. Your stidio should be open late so people can come by and hang out, art directors love this to. Make sure the bar is stocked at all times . #5 your studio should be in a high end artsy location . be able to make a better than average photo and you are on your way. Give it a try or not.
No one has said that Ansel Adams did it that way so it's o.k.
Looks like you should be trying large film size camera to create the images your looking for. It will open a whole new world for you . Full control, not just the f-stop & shutter speed . IT seems to feel it's the way you are going. Love your images.
Photo #1 color very good .Make it into a large print, enjoy. We see so few straight photos this one is really nice.
You all seem to be saying that art directors accept 35mm images for product photography or what is called full frame cameras . No wonder pro photographers are walking the streets when anything from anyone is accepted as the image to use . Boy digital cameras really did a number on the photo industry mainly down hill.
If it don't look right it's not right. You are the judge.
Are the wet darkroom people from the past telling me you were able to do with your prints the same things you do with PP and Topaz and the all the other software you use today in your darkroom ? You must have been very good at what you did . Let me ask all of you how you did Ektachrome to look like HDR 's ? How about the way out colors i see in todays photos ? I think I will call all of you who use software to the hilt photographers because you all use cameras to start with. Good enough ?
Incident metering is always used in studio photography where you can control the lighting . Reflected meters are used for most all other kinds of lighting so you become the judge of the contrast . All meters read 18% gray. You have to adjust this according to your subject . Or just shoot AUTO.
What in the world is all this electronic gobledegook? Who here take real ,in the camera photographs ? To use your eyes, your medium, to relay your message is what it's all about. I'm sure most of us love the medium striped of software finger movements , getting back to basics. Go all the way back before you go all the way forward .
