I took a Canon Ti and used the 55-250 STM lens.
Light, quick and tight. I may have changed to a wide angle 4, or,5 times. Although we were into a second season without significant rain, the cold air (winter in Botswana) seemed to keep the dust down. When not shooting, the camera was under my poncho. I have yet to dust off the equipment.

More important to grab the quick, perfect shot.
Know your presets and change for upcoming lighting conditions.

Have fun. Best trip ever.

I will demand no less from Canon.
They are able to step up to the plate.

Bigger the better!
At some point, when acquity breaks down, the image becomes art.

It's a jewel of a camera to hold.
The workmanship is sooo Teutonic.

I was referred a mint Plaubel Makina made in 1953.
It came in a kit, complete except for the tele lens (not so sure that the tele was included with the kit).
The only drawback is that the stitching for the case has completely given out - leather panels seem good.
I was asked to deduce its value and sell it to a good home.
The market seems to be in Europe.
Any ideas? It's been years since I was involved in the collectable market.

The lens seems to be working again.
Teething problems, or, the contact clean did the trick.
Thanks for the moral support.

My 1.8 Canon lens seems to be erratic in focusing. Perhaps low level agrivates the situation. Focus flash can be several seconds and still not be sharp. Lens does same on another body. Other lens will not duplicate the symtom.

I left the photographic trade 35 years ago, with the idea that I would return when digital had matured to the level that film photography had achieved. It has surpassed that level. Last year I had the oportunity to go to Africa, (Botswana, Zambia) on photographic safari. Several months before departure I purchased a Canon T5i kit from Costco, to give myself time to reacquaint myself with the technology.

The trip was the high point of my travels, but, I stalled organizing and preparing my shots for sharing. I joined lightroom in the cloud, but was buffalowed by the learning process. Fortunately, the young ladies at our local senior center pushed me to produce a print show. I stumbled through minimal steps to manipulate my shots and get the on a thumb drive.

If is wasn't for Costco's print program, I could has never afforded to present in the scale that wanted. I committed to 30 16x20s, 3 20x30's
and one 20x60 print. The 20x60 was basicly a test to see the image fall apart at that magnification. To my amazement, the detail and saturation held true - no pixilation.
Costco's prices?:
16x20 - $6.99
20-30 - $9.99
(get this)
20x60 - $18.99

I am told that the show is a big success.
I think I'll take more pictures.

Oh, I just purchased a Canon T6s w/18-135 IS STW lens.
As good as the systems lens seemed with the T5i, the 18-135 seems even better. When will Canon produce a true 200-600 for this camera?
Wishful thinking - is this GAS?

What brought up my query was my first attempt at video.
I belong to an RC flying club.
Today, I tried to shoot in bright daylight.
I could not differentiate the plane in the bright sky on the LCD.
I need a Hood, or, the supplimental viewer that you mention.

I guess that I somehow expected my cake and eat it, too.
I once had a "Canon Pelical".
Great camera, but, it gave up 40% of a stop.
In another life, I was a photographer - then retailer, but all that knowledge leached out of my knowledge base.
Now after 30 years, I'm learning all over, again.

Nice forum.
Glad to be here.

Am I dense, or, is the viewfinder deactivated in the video mode on a Canon t5i during video mode?
