I have a lot of trouble with hawks because they have light, dark, and everything in between color phases. Through in immatures and you have more combinations. I can't quite see if this bird has a white chin but based on what I see, especially the dark patagials (front of the wing), my guess would be an immature western Red-tailed Hawk.
I love it. I want to put it on my Facebook page but can't figure out how to do it. I can save the image to an email but I don't see any options to save it to my Pictures folder so that I could put it on Facebook. Can anyone help?
I use a Pixel Racing Harness from ThinkTank. To that, I add a plier holster that I ordered from Amazon. You place the shoe (I have a Wimberley plate attached) of the telephoto's collar into the holster and the weight is distributed to both shoulders and hips. In February I hiked 11 miles RT in Big Bend with no problems (other than utter exhaustion from a long hike in out-of-shape condition). These aren't the greatest of photos but I hope you get the idea.
So where did the term poop deck come from?
I had my D7100 repaired at Associated Camera in Portland and was very pleased. They were wonderful to work with.
Boy, can I ever relate to that.
My guess would be Mottled Duck.
Great shots - very sharp. FYI I'm almost certain the goose in the center of the flock photo is a Ross's Goose.
It's Red-winged Blackbird.
Right now in Anchorage, it's 49 degrees and most of the snow we had is gone.
