Sorry about the mix-up with the Zf and Zfc. I didn't drill-down far enough to realize that the 'c' probably stood for 'cropped' and not 'chrome', but you have to admit, they look nearly identical (but the 28mm lens should have been a hint since that's a bit odd for a full-frame prime lens):

To clarify, the Zfc the "c" stands for compact. And it is NOT full frame. It has the same internal characteristics as a Z50, but with retro controls. I traded my D500 for a Z50 and 3 days later returned it for the Zfc. I really like the brushed chrome look. More professional than plastic. The Zfc reminds me of my first Nikon, an FTN in 1970.
The Zf, while pictured here by someone, is not yet released and will be full frame. Speculation is Jan or Feb '24. I also believe the body will be bigger. By the way, the Zfc is easier to use than the Z50. Controls make more sense. The Zfc comes with a kit semi-wide zoom (16-50... also chrome) and I added a full-frame semi telephoto in anticipation of trading to the the Zf someday.

I need some ideas to store photos with the ability to send some to friends. In the past, I have stored photos on my computer transferred from the disc in the camera. If I wish to send to friends, I can only send two or three at a time because of the limitations of size of attachments on e-mail. My option is to store on a flash drive and mail it. There must be a better way. Can I store in a cloud somewhere that anyone could access .... or I could grant access. I have heard about this and I would like to know of some product names that are recommended. Thanks.

The z50 doesn't have a mirror. The camera and the owner are already better photographers than any DSLR owner.

Thank you for your comment, sir CHG.

I chose mirrorless in a compact DX size and, if it works out, I will get a full-frame mirrorless later. It IS the latest technology which I am sure I will appreciate. My option was to keep the D500, sell the two heavy zoom F lenses, get one D-type lightweight zoom, and continue on with DSLR technology. I chose mirrorless instead.

As for the guy who says I made a mistake selling the D500, two local retail camera stores in my area said that the DSLR format is dead and used prices will plummet. No more new bodies or lenses will be introduced or updated by the big three. Two on-line east coast big stores said exactly the same thing.
I just purchased the Nikon Zfc, a cousin to the Z50, because I liked the "retro" silver metal look and the statistics are identical to the Z50. The Sony compacts were my other option, but I have been a "Nikon loyalist" since my first FTN in 1970.

Sorry, no phone pics for me. Can't understand how a lens half the size of a pea can do justice to accepable photo shooting. My wife's 12mp apple is a joke.

I said two full frame zooms. I thought that was enough. Sorry.

The Z50 & Zfc are both 14 oz, plus a kit zoom lens. The D500 plus f zoom lens was over 11 lbs. That is why I am changing. The only way to go lighter and smaller is a point & shoot from Walmart. That is not me. I simply want the best compact mirrorless avail. My loyalty is Nikon for 55 yrs. Sony would be ok though.

I expeced comments all over the map. Fact is, two retailers said that mirrorless is the only way to go; DLSR is dead and no more updates or models, including lenses. Any other ideas ? For the comment about the D500 being so much better, I opted for less weight. 15X less.

I am selling my Nikon D500 that has two full frame zoom lenses to get a Zfc or Z50 with zoom lens. The D500 has served me well, and the quality of images has been terrific, but I want lighter and smaller for travel. For cruise ships and other travel it has become too much trouble to lug around at my advancing age. Landscape and dinner parites are my major uses. My question is ..... am I compromising quality ? Are there other compact mirrorless bodies that I should consider ? Comments welcome. Thanks.

I am looking "at" (note grammer) replacing my DSLR D500 with two Full Frame Zooms. Too heavy and large for my latest usage such as cruise ships and other travel. Catching my eye is the Nikon Z50 or the Zfc. Leica DLux 7 is too expensive. Both Nikons are 14 oz and much smaller than any DSLR. My fear is losing picture quality. The Sony compact R100 is also an option. Not considering Lumix because of quality of the (panasonic) body. Is my thinking ok? Welcome comments.

Original dealer out of business.
Current dealer very cooperative but has not have this part in stock.
I hate to waste a $300 tripod for a $10 part so I appreciate input from you guys and girls as professionals.
Thanks for your comments.

The Z body has nothing to do with this. The plate is a screw-in fitting all bodies.
Sorry you misunderstood.
Thanks.

It IS in fact a high quality tripod, paid about $300 10 yrs ago. The store said I needed this because of the weight of a DSLR with a full frame type zoom lens.
Nikon put their name on these but never manufactured them, which is why finding the quick release plate is difficult.
Thanks for your infor.
