I want to tell you, Mark, those are some great street shots that stand on their own without the Hopper effect. I would like to see the series in classic black & white renderings. Wonderful documentary work.

Thank you for your kind remark, StanMac.

Some of those pictures are also in monochrome at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z6DRlz-OBE4[/ur1].

If you're into monochrome and belong to Facebook, you can see some beautiful submissions (by many photographers) on The Club of Black and White Photography . I'm usually blown away daily.

Like many of us, as an amateur, I've toyed with the idea of turning my photos into some sort of art form such as using a software program either to directly activate a style, ie impressionism or European oil painting. I've looked at Corel, but they have so many versions, its hard to understand what you are getting. I would also enjoy learning how to do the conversion by hand using various brush strokes etc.

Are there any such aficionados out there that have an opinion they'd like to share??

And I like to convert some of my images to resemble Edward Hopper's paintings.

For that I use one of two JixiPix products, either Spektrel or Portrait Painter. Available on both Mac and PC platforms.

Here are some of mine via YouTube:

I've never been to Armenian Delight but I've been to the Country Squire, across the street, numerous times.

We've been eating Armenian Pizza ("Lah-Ma-Joon") for 50 years. Sort of spicy meat baked into circular flat bread. They sell it in packages of 12. We split them into threes, then freeze them and take them of the freezer before dinner. Reheat, then Simply roll up a salad into the Lahmajoon and eat.

I know that spot, just east of State Rd.

Yes, we drove to Armenian Delight at the intersection of Routes 3 and 320. On the return trip (we live in Center City) I couldn't resist that view from the top of the hill toward the city.

I see a lot of B&W photos on this forum that were shot in flat light with muted colors and rendered to B&W. It seems to me that there’s a bit more to consider for a good composition that uses the B&W effect.

What do you suggest?

After having my first eye done yesterday I noticed a distinct shift in color balance towards the blue end of the spectrum. I never even thought about color balance as most talk concerning cataracts always focused on clarity and haziness... Before freaking out I did a little research and discovered that a cataract has a yellow brownish look; Gee, walking around with a warming filter. My next thoughts were how much this has affected post processing in the past and how things will be diff. in the future. I know we all see color and brightness differently and it will be interesting to go back and examine some post images and SEE how they now appear through a clear lens... Prob. only interesting to those who have had a lens replacement but I thought I would comment on it. Bob

Thank you, thank you for your post.

I will probably have both eyes done within the next year, although I don't really notice the presence of cataracts. Your message is very timely for me.

I just downloaded the sd card from this camera today and noticed I have a black mark in the upper right corner of most of the photos. Am attaching two. I think the whatever is on the sensor as I see nothing on the lens or thru the viewfinder. I do see it on the lcd monitor in playback. As this is a point and shoot, I don't know how to get to the sensor to see and/or clean it. Can someone help?

If you have a Facebook account, join the LX100 group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/LX100/.

You'll probably find out that dust on the sensor is something that goes with this otherwise great camera... and you'll get some good help on cleaning your sensor.

What do YOU think is the very best photograph, you've taken, so far - in 2019? … You know - the one you are so very delighted with - you are considering blowing it up to plaster a wall with it … any takers??

A dream photo journalist's dream photo was wasted prior to the Chicago Gay P***e Parade.

Picture sidewalks full with Gay P***e revelers, decked out in rainbow paint, hair and outfits, filing to the parade route to view the parade and one grizzled old man in a Cubs t-shirt hobbling against the rainbow with overnight bags in obvious escape

It would have made a helluva statement.
