Chef, you don't mention the settings you used and another important setting is the focal length. What would be easy to hand-hold at 40mm could be difficult at 150. Also upping the ISO setting could help. Bottom line either a faster shutter speed or a tripod. Do pass on your settings for better help.

Hi Jim,
settings were "A", ISO 1600(auto), 40mm, -0.3 ev, f 4, 0.6s
Thanks for looking.

what settings would help me hand hold my camera to take this shot? I have an Olympus OMD 10 with a 40-150mm lens.

According to early reports this morning, it was kind of a dud. I only had one shot where a meteor showed up. (Although I did capture several jetliners.)

I wonder if it is supposed to "shower" again tonight?

Here's where I get my heads up on this sort of thing: http://earthsky.org/space/camelopardalids-where-is-our-rain-of-meteors-observers-report?utm_source=EarthSky+News&utm_campaign=1ee626a048-EarthSky_News&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_c643945d79-1ee626a048-393815989

I have the same camera.. questions??
just wondering are you shooting in RAW or JPG with the "fine " option.. are you using focus peaking .. have you tried any of the HDR settings.. are you printing..if so what size?

But boy isn't it the sweetest little camera you have ever owned, I am just so happy with the choice.

I ordered a lens adapter to fit my old Cannon lenses, and I will order a Nikon adapter for some glass that I got off ebay... for real cheap.

love to hear more about your experiences and tips if any to share

Since I don't use anything but Aperture to process my photos I just use JPEG. For some time I used raw but it takes up too much room on the computer. I do my best to get the shot in the camera.
I chose to trade in all my canon lens to purchase the EM 10.
The weight of the camera is a huge plus. My next lens will be the 70-300. Do you have any experience with that lens?
Enjoy your new camera!

Sure... Funny I get to be the expert.. Lol

Ok. It's in the advanced menu area . The little cog not in menu 1 or 2
Then look for white balance
Then look for settings
And then set for sf

Good luck.
It's also in the extended manual ..

Thank you. What an odd location.
I like to take close up photos so my camera is set to a single focus point along with spot focusing. For just walking around I change it back to all focus points and regular focus.
Have fun with your new camera.
And thanks for being the expert.

Recently I traded in my Canon Rebel and all the lens for the OMD EM-10. I purchased the ED 14-42mm f3.5-5.6EZ lens instead of the kit lens. So far I love this little camera. I changed the top dial functions so that aperture is the front dial. But I cannot find super fine JPEG. Could you be more specific about which menus you used? Great shots!

Just purchased the OM-D 10 wih 14-42mm lens.
I cropped the picture to a square and added a little vibrancy with Aperture.
I think I'm going to love this camera.

I have the sx50 and really enjoy photographing the birds in my backyard. The zoom makes it possible to get those far away, high in the trees shots. I am also a senior and find I get the best shots when I use my monopod with this camera. It helps eliminate camera shake when the camera is zoomed out. Good luck.
