This is supposed to be quite an improvement without the anti aliasing filter. I tend to agree. Get the 7200 and not the 7100.

I shot this the other night and combined some photos to track the pitch. Thus far, this D7200 seems to be working very nicely.

4 shots merged to show direction of a fastball.

So a quick grab shot of my ring and I ZOOMED in iPhoto to show detail. No other edits were made. All settings on camera are right out of the box. I think it holds detail really well. No flash, only indoor ceiling light and a lamp. I can't wait to get to an event that really tests the 7200 and my ability.

Can I be the first to comment? It came this morning and earlier than promised. Some have said downloads might not work. Not true. iPhoto on older Mac took my first pictures no sweat. Took a picture of my dog indoors (low light trial) and the 7200 performs as hyped. His fur comes up really sharp.

As an aside, I thought my wife was going to kill me when I got this. She picked it up and immediately said this is lighter than my D300. "It feels nice in my hands." Boy did I dodge a bullet - but I may have to buy her one. There are worse problems to haveĀ….

Back to the 7200 - the focus was WAY FAST in low light. Can't wait to take this to a sports event. Thus far it has surprised me with everything it does and I can't wait to try more stuff with it.

So Larry - here is 2 cents. I went to my local camera store yesterday. I compared a 750 to a 7100 (assumes 7200 will be same in size/weight as 7100) side by side with identical lenses. 750 was noticeably heavier to hold in my hand. Also we discussed file size relating to my current computer. 750 has way bigger files and 7200 will have smaller files. Bigger files mean more real estate consumed on my hard drive etc. I have to have one camera or the other because most of my lenses are "D" which means I need the motor in the camera for AF function. In exact same lighting, AF function was faster in the 750 than the 7100. I was told the 7200 will have same focus, processor and some other things and so it "should be" just as fast as the 750. The biggest DIFFERENCE between the 750 and the 7200 is supposed to be the SIZE of the pixel. Hence, greater or superior low light performance. I really liked the light weight package in the 7100 and both cameras will offer the low light sensitivity that I want. I am really leaning to the 7200 because I think it will meet MY needs and save a bunch of $$$. Gentle photo enthusiasts: I hope my logic is sound and my facts are correct.

Thank you for that link. I found some other info there about the D7100 that was helpful. Its time to put my D300 to rest. The only problem with these newer bodies is that they only run the G lenses in autofocus. I have lots of D lenses. But again, thanks for the link - the Brits are entertaining.

And, I have to say, you did capture the day. Wind is a part of it and they will remember their day. I think its a nice picture of a handsome couple.

I tried something with your picture trying to remove the hair and missed completely. Skin tones changed a little but you maybe weren't after that. Sorry...

I tried shooting gymnastics this past weekend and I think my biggest mistake was using my D300. Used the fastest lenses I had but it was so dark that my results were noisy. Its time for a new Nikon that can shoot in dark situations. Any ideas?

Thanks for the tip on the nik collection. You might find this to be an odd comment, but for kicks and giggles, I'd really like to see the original shot before the manipulation. I've enjoyed seeing some of your recent shots posted in the last few weeks.

So CJ - have you taken a few pictures that you wouldn't mind showing? I have been looking for a clean D700 and the best I can do locally is $1000. US. I seem to be shooting in more low light situations and my D300 just piles on the noise. I'm told 6400 ISO is clean all the time. Just curious about your new experience and the philosophy of buying enough bells and whistles to be heard but not overwhelmed.

I have questions about posting pictures with random people in them. I am relatively new to photography and have a web site via Shutterfly that I post pictures on. I have mostly stayed away from posting pictures that include people feeling that I would have to get releases and/or waivers signed before being able to do this.

My Question: Is it necessary to get signed releases before posting pics that include random people in them or am I just being paranoid?

Attached is a picture of something happening in Delano, MN. The river is rising and I included some random people for a sense of scale. I don't think they are particularly indentifiable. I am merely documenting a natural happening. Thoughts anyone?

I have a D300 that I am disappointed with in low light/sports situations. But I'm sure like most here, its what I could afford at the time. Would you consider posting some pictures from both cameras of the same subject for a fair real world comparison?

Brad - I really like the picture with the ball. I think it adds a lot more interest to your picture - more excitement !! I've attached a similar shot from our season.
