Canon 100mm L didn't focus-

upgrade from 7d, to 6d, or 5d mk2
If you are in no hurry wait a few months and see if the 7D mark II is available.

Sell or keep canon pixma pro9000 mark ii?
The market in Dallas on craigs list is an average of 150.00. I bought three brand new and unopened at that price. Kept two and gave one to my daughter. Handy when the family comes over and I can print instantly and give them a photo. I don't bother worrying about cost of paper and ink on such a small scale.

Which L Lens?
With what you have, check out the 70-300 L. The 70-200 would not get you much farther down the road distance wise. Only problem is it will not take the canon extender.

Canon Lens Purchase
Bought one last week. Pleasantly surprised at the big change in price from when first introduced. Also got the latest 1.4 extender just in case I have a use for it. Only lose a stop of light.

Cheap kit
It's only eighty bucks. Take the stuff and play around with it. Part of it you might like for your purposes. Don't think of it as a waste but more of an education.

She will probably be impressed that you are interested at such an early age. Judging from your picture I think she would take into account your young age and be supportive and not critical. If she is critical tell her "Hey, I'm just a kid." Please don't worry about it. Plenty of time for that when you grow up.
