I think the 6D and Mk2 are both fine for that. But the 6D has the newest technology, and I have heard very good things about it. It is also lighter and smaller than the Mk2

No comparison, the 7D is cropped the others FF like comparing chalk and cheese, before you chose a camera you need to decide what it is for and then what sensor you want

What don't you like about the 7D? Why are you considering going to a FF such as the 6D or 5D MK II?

Moving to either of these FF cameras may not be a good idea for an upgrade. First, you will be going backwards with the auto focus system and secondly, since wildlife is what you photograph, you will lose some reach using the same lens as you are now using. The continuous shooting rate is also going to be lower.

I would be going the other direction...switching *from* either of those cameras *to* a 7D if my main subject was wildlife.

I was considering upgrading my old canon 450D so pulled up DPreviews of the 450 - 600 - 1100 guess what As I don't do any video work it turns out that on specifications alone the 450 is still comparable to the 600 and a lot better than the 1100.
Originally it stood up quite well to the 4D so how it stands with your oldie is a mute point.
As you shoot with the camera it matters not what you aim at. Compare what you get for the upgrade and then see if its worth the cash outlay.

I just upgraded from my older Canone 450D to the 7D and capturing action shots (once I perfect it)is like night and day. I'm still learning and have gotten some really nice shots without the blurring (my goal) and am really happy with the 7D for action. This may not help with what your thinking of doing, but wanted to throw that out there :) I hope that is ok :)

I agree, I would also say upgrade your skills and forget about "upgrading" your camera.

If you are in no hurry wait a few months and see if the 7D mark II is available.

Upgrade question

Hey JohnnyBG - I've been seriously thinking to scratch a FF itch, but so far I've been able to resist. As a 7D owner the thing that's held me back on a 5DII is the older menus. In terms of camera controls, my observation based on research only is the 6D or the 5DIII won't require unlearning anything about the current version of the Canon EOS platform. Just my thoughts on this question.

I wholeheartedly agree with those who counsel NOT to 'upgrade' - the 7D is, with the possible exception of the 1Dx series, the best Canon for wildlife, especially MOVING wildlife. The 5D variants (1, II and III) and 6D are more suited to landscape, nature, portraiture, et cetera with a non-moving subject. 7Ds frame rate and multizone AF system give it an edge when shooting any kind of action.

Keep the 7D and add either the 6D or 5DII to your collection. I have a 7D for wildlife and a 5DII for landscapes and other stationary targets.
