The Queensferry Crossing is due to open in May 2017. The stunning, globally unique bridge forms the centrepiece of a major upgrade to the important cross-Forth transport corridor in the east of Scotland, representing a total Scottish Government investment of £1.35bn (at 2016 prices). The 1.7 miles (2.7km) structure will be the longest three-tower, cable-stayed bridge in the world and also by far the largest to feature cables which cross mid-span. This innovative design provides extra strength and stiffness, allowing the towers and the deck to be more slender and elegant.

Building began in the early 15th century, and over the next 250 years the castle became a comfortable residence surrounded by fine gardens and pastureland. The castles history is not only closely involved with the city of Edinburgh, but plays an important part in the story of Mary Queen of Scots who fled to Craigmillar Castle following the murder of Rizzio. It was in the castle where the plot was hatched to murder Marys husband, Lord Darnley.

Inchmickery is a small island in the Firth of Forth in Scotland. It is about two miles north of Edinburgh.
Inchmickery is tiny, only 100 metres by 200 metres. During both World War I and World War II the island was used as a gun emplacement. The concrete buildings make the island look (from a distance) like a battleship. Although the island is now uninhabited much of this concrete superstructure remains largely intact.

Very nice shots. The 'gun' looks out of place in what comes to mind when I think castle.

I really like the set.

Thanks, there are old canons all over the castle, such as Mons Meg, but that's the gun that is used for special events and the time check at 13.00pm
