Great post. Moving too fast is very accurate and one thing I am working on.

I just purchased the Canon 10-18mm and it would be perfect for what you want. Look at the reviews @ kenrockwell.com. You will not be disappointed.

YES! I applied to this message a few minutes ago with a useless message. And now I am replying to this message with another useless message.

It looks as though a PP filter was applied. What emotion are you trying to convey with the PP? At first glance it looks as though there is a tremendous amount of camera shake. I could be wrong but looking at the pattern on the green blouse there has been some PP filter applied.

The photos look like the closest thing in focus is the wooden fence with the metal electrical conduit running along it. Still this is not in complete focus. I can't tell a difference between the two photos.

For me it is difficult to tell without viewing the originals. Could you resubmit the two photos and check the "attach original" box.

Thank you for the comments. Needless to say this was the best photo of the outing. I went to capture a 50 foot waterfall because I just bought a variable ND filter. The waterfall photos did not turn out at all. So on the way down I started to look for bugs.

I travel with my Dolica carbon fiber tripod in my carry on all the time. No issues yet.

I just purchased this lens for my 7D also. This is by far the widest lens I have ever used. There is a lot to learn with this ultra wide lens but it will be fun. This lens is very sharp, at least so far for me. I took it on a city walk of main street Park City, Ut and it worked perfectly to capture the small main street. You will like this lens in the end just keep practicing with it.

I got up at 8am on the morning these were offered for pre-ordered to get my wife one for our anniversary. My invoice said she would receive the watch in June, 2 months after I ordered the watch. To my surprise the watch showed up April 24th, the day the first ones would be available. She loves it. My wife is an exercise nut and health nut. The watch tracks all her movement and syncs to her exercise apps. Sh has had it for 10 days now and not a single complaint about it.
I would order it all over again if given the chance.

Any and all suggestions will help as I am coming from shooting with a smart phone to using a dslr I don't want the best I do want decent so nevermind the price range I gave and fire away Thank you

I would go to a local camera store and try some out. They should carry some around $100 that you can test out. Then you would get an idea of what you want. I picked up a Dolica 100 a few years ago at Costco for $89 it is sturdy, carbon fiber, and easy to adjust. It does not go as high as I want without extending the center mast all the way. This is ok unless it is windy then the camera moves.

There is the old saying of "you get what you pay for." With that I guess it will depend on how tall you want the tripod to extend and how stable you want/need it to be. Tripods in the $20-$60 price range might not fit what you want/need. The cheapest tripod I have found that is so/so on extended height and good on stability is the Dolica 100.
