An interesting and effective use of the horizon. When placed low in the composition it usually indicates that the sky is what you want to bring attention to. In this case there are mountains hidden in that heat mist. They are not terribly prominent; but they are there and I'm drawn to that. I like this very much.

Thanks Erich.

Thanks. Don't know whether you would like this version or it's what you envisioned your image to be.

Once I put a photo on here I am done with it, your version reduces the heat haze somewhat.

Very interesting treatment of your image. I can just see the heat rising in the background!!! Would you consider lightening the foreground a bit?

no, but you can give it a try.

Intrepid soul, that canoeist/sailor ...... it requires an impeccable sense of balance and knowing one's gear to keep that thing headed in the right direction at good speed.

Canadians and canoes go together like Moose meat and Marmalade!

I was thinking maybe this was an NSFW shot of young females on a yacht, with sweat covered bodies glistening in the sun...

And that is why I'd love to live in your neck of the woods. I had the pleasure of a visit to Vancouver Island. I'd love to live there.

Vancouver Island is a gem most people do not know about, but the gulf islands are gold. They are in the Gulf of Georgia (Salish Sea). They are renowned for having a Mediterranean climate, small population, great fishing and friendly people. Fairly good ferry service to and from, only problem, fresh water. If you live near a creek or lake you are ok. Check out Galiano Island, Salt Spring Island, Mayne Island, Pender Island, and Saturna Island. You can pick up a 1200 square foot house on a couple of treed acres for around $300, 000 Can.

Nicely composed photos. However, hot, hot, hot??? At 32C??? We just had a week of close to 50. That's hot. Now, for the benefit of the doubt, perhaps you had a good deal of humidity to go along with that 32.

Where I live 32 is hot. What is the coldest it gets in Ariz? -22- 25 F is not uncommon in my neck of the woods.

Thanks one and all, I am a sucker for all things that are backlit.

I like backlit photos and there is much to like in this simple composition, but I'm having trouble with the darkness of the rest of the image. Maybe it's my own eyesight or my own problems with interpretation but I keep peering into the dark parts to find out what I'm missing there. It seems well captured which isn't easy with backlit yellow flowers. I like it best cropped into portrait mode eliminating the right bloom and sticking with the backlit one and the buds that enfold it.

Noted, I have a portrait version cropped as suggested. I have about 10 versions, this is one cropped version.
Also, as has been noted before, I prefer photos on the darker side.

I like it. The horizontalness (if that is a word) works.

This is an appealing composition with nice colors. You did a good job of preserving highlights. Those programs do push the boundaries between photography and graphic art. But that is the case with many computer programs. Certainly fun to explore possibilities.

The colors are completely different in the download. Not saved as srgb color space? I love Carol's reference to a floral waterfall. While fractalius is not usually a filter that appeals to me, you've made a very eye-catching and pretty result.

Thanks Linda. I don't use it much, but you can get some interesting results on flowers.
