Some examples of what can be found as you travel through the high country. These were originally built for the stockmen to stay while moving stock through the vast mountainous areas of the high country. They are still used for this as well as for overnight emergency stops and for travellers, hikers, or when snow bound. The first is the famous Craig's Hut used in the film "The Man from Snowy River". Unfortunately this has burnt down 3 times and this is a rebuilt replica of what it was like. It is a tourist stop and has easy access for buses and 4 x 4 cars. The rest are found as you drive through the numerous tracks to be found. They are found of all maps in case of emergencies but are often burnt down in area bush fires through summer, only to be rebuilt by local towns or organisations. The last is a Old School House, I believe built in the 1800's ??? This one is built by a homestead that have been appointed the school's caretakers to help with maintenance and upkeep. Usually you can find some stored can food items that have been left or donated for emergency situations. Also some have a log books to record visitor's names and comments, where you are from etc.

Thanks for your interesting information. I have looked and agree what wonderful women and works.

It is a little different, but not far off from the work of at least two extremely talented women. Cindy Sherman 4 decades ago modeled for her own photography. At least one of those prints has sold for a couple million dollars since then (it set a record at the time). If you haven't seen her work, definitely worth Googling for a look!

A more recent example, though not nearly as famous yet just as academic with a Master of Fine Arts and a professor, is a lady more dear to my own heart. Erica Lord is related to people here in Barrow that are close friends. Do a Google search to find her facsinating photographs of herself as many things. You can check out my web page at http://apaflo.com/ericalord/ to see the real world Erica (through my lens rather than hers, which is no less an unreal view). There is a clickable URL there that goes directly to her web page. Trust that her images, no matter how outwardly humorous, are dead serious.

Yes we don't know where that came from apart from my dad being a bit like that when he was very young. And the curls yes it is a bit of mystery. This was a theme for "Delicious" for me. Was going to do delicious apples, a still life but they were not in season. I am just trying a few different things lately. Off on holidays again next Monday. Thanks for your comment.

Been thinking of a themes and trying to express myself with a shots on that theme. Trying to do something different than I usually do. How did I go and how can I improve. I was pleased with this overall. I have a Sony A65 and I used SS 1/160 AP 4.5 ISO 400 and FL 45mm, no edits, hand held. I know a tri-pod would be better but did not have with me and ignore the mark on the wall. These photos are just for me, saw this idea on another site I look at.

The colors are striking. Aperture priority, ISO 400, 1/320, f5.6, white balance Auto, Center weighted matrix - no tripod - Used Elements 13 to enhance colors, but not by much - otherwise, except for some minor cropping very little processing. Really found this image profound - composition is good, letting the tree silhouette and the deep blue clouds frame the fiery colors. Framed an 8 x10 - enjoy

Set up my own little photo shoot with Hannah and ice cream today. Gave myself a theme of delicious, AP 5, SS 1/250, ISO 800, hand held no edits, 70mm FL, Sony 65A. We have been blessed with two granddaughters and as of last night we have a third. Although we have not met yet (tomorrow is the big day) because of distance we will get all the cuddles tomorrow. Mum and baby doing well after a few complications.

Forgot I had this one. Hope I don't offend, but I thought I was funny. This is a hire car taken in Ballina last September. The second is a real problem in some of our coastal areas during the summer months. The last two are property names from the Jindabyne area.

We are and do but we are not retired yet so do so in between work commitments.. We are away next week for 5 weeks, next year to Tasmania and the next will be something else. Every year is a big trip (5 Week). Cape York two years back, Ayres Rock last year. We get around but are saving the west coast for retirement because of the distance. All throughout the year there are weeks away, four day trips here and there, friends say we are never home.
