Most of the time big gators just lie there--like giant lazy slugs. But every now and then one does something interesting. Yesterday this 8-10 footer was just floating across the surface when he raised his head above the water surface. Then continued floating; moments later he just slammed his jaws down on the surface creating a huge curtain of water. The splash made for an interesting photo--at least I think so. He then continued his float with no further action.

Has Eastbourne more than 1 pier? I worked there some years ago for a few months and can't recall that view, memory not what it used to be mind!

cheers Sloonie

there was just one pier hastings had one just down the road.
Ive put a couple more pictures up

Your right Hastings did have a pier (2 in fact) one was destroyed by a storm many years ago 50 maybe! The main pier was the subject of an arson attack 5 or 6 years ago and pretty much destroyed also, however due to all the old "farts" in the area (Me for one) have lobbied to get it restored and the government lottery funds have just been alloted to bring it back to life.
All the top bands from The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and hundreds of others played there before they became famous. I was fortunate to have been with the local paper and recorded many of the groups and had a lot of good times with them. It was one of the only places's youngsters had to hang out in what was basically an old retirees town.

Ian

Bet Simon of the digital transformations has some great photos of the pier!

thanks for that ,brilliant reading
I combine photography with another hobby of mine and my granddaughters which is Geocaching and there was a cache at the site of where the pier pier used to be .
I was amazed at the public fund raising going on in the area ,one of which is a lighthouse at Beachy Head ,the new owners can not afford to re-paint it red and white so want to leave it to the weather to take it back to concrete but theres fund raising going on by the locals to collect £17,000 to have it repainted .

Absolutely not Cakey. Look at the 'My Topics' and the number of views there. I only have 9 to look at in 'Newest Topics' because I keep up with UHH 2 or 3 times a day being retired. I look at every post because some members post beautiful photos to look at, such as yours. Even my 'Watched Topics' is at 16 because I posted a comment and therefore it became a Watched Topic until I click on 'unwatch' in the topic.

I take the time on many threads to post a comment so the person knows someone was looking at their post.

You can click on 'My Posts' and see your subject and how many folks looked at it and just didn't take the time to comment for some reason.

Take Care
