Hi Linda,

I see you have Elements 18. I have been using Elements 12 & have Elements 14. 14 doesn't seem to work as well on my computer, as 12, and so I use 12 most of the time.

Is 18, in your opinion, a whole lot better than 12, and worth the upgrade?

Thanks.
Michael

Hi Marty,

If you are going to be driving into Salem from an outside location, please leave very early in the day(morning). The traffic is awful going into Salem, especially the week before Halloween. There is a parking garage, in town, across from the visitor center. I think they charge between $20-$25 dollars for the day. Night time is really the best and the most interesting, but as i mentioned, get there early, and spend the day. The Hawthorne Hotel is a great place for a drink or for getting something to eat, but more expensive than the surrounding restaurants. Please let me know if you have any other questions. My & I having been going to Salem, for more than 20 years, and always find it interesting, and fun. Enjoy your visit.

Hello,

I am going to Salem Ma for the first time a week before Halloween so I can actually see stuff! 99.9% of the time I do my own thing but I was thing about trying one of the walking tours. There are a couple of tours for around $20. My question for those in the know. Is it worth the money and how are they with photography. Nothing worse than waiting in line and then inside the door seeing a sign "no photography"! Or...should I just walk around by myself.
Thanks,
Marty

Hi Bob,

Thank you for getting back to me so quickly. I appreciate your reply.

You mentioned that flash wasn't an option, and I'm curious why. Was flash not allowed? I've done Step & Repeat shots for corporate events, and used bounced flash without a problem. Just curious.

Thanks again.

Hi,

I'm interested in learning more about the logistics of how you set everything up. Were you hooked up to your printer or did you send the photos, as you took them, to the printer with WIFI?

How many people did you have to photograph, and what was the total time to take the photos & print their photo

I've been asked a couple of times to do something similar, but always turned it down because I get bogged down in the details(The Devil is in the details). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I appreciate your input, and yes I agree, it's very little compensation for the amount of work and effort.

Take care.

Hi,

I was wondering how much you charge to photograph the interior and exterior, of a house, and how many photos, you take or send to the agent?

I live on Long Island, and the competition, for photographing a house, is extremely fierce. The price ranges from $40-85, with $60, being the magic number.

I would appreciate your answers and thoughts.

Thanks, take care.

Thank goodness it never happened to me because a Newsday photographer taught me to put up the rewind handle, and to make sure it turned every time you advanced the film, on the load sprocket. I always advanced it one extra turn, just as "insurance" to make sure the film was loading correctly.

However, a friend of mine, who had a wedding business, mentioned to his "second shooter" that he was getting 40 pictures out of his 36 exposure roll! The shooter looked at him, and said that's impossible! Long story short, the only photos of the wedding, were from his second shooter. The owner, however, had to tell the bride that none of the portraits and home shots came out, and would have to take them again. Needless to say, the couple wasn't happy. The owner lost a lot of business because of the situation, and started to use his second shooter at every stage of the wedding.

I had a successful wedding photography business, back then, but decided to quit while I was ahead. I was always nervous about getting the film back from the lab because in those days, you didn't know how the photos were going to look. Luckily they always turned out fine, but the pressure of possibly messing up a person's wedding was something I never wanted to have to deal with. Today digital, solves at least that aspect of shooting a wedding.

Hi Allen, Welcome to the Hog. You mention you primarily use an external flash. Check the menu, to make sure you don't have your camera set to commander mode. If it is set to that, move it to TTL, hit OK, and you should be back in business. I've made that mistake a few times because I use the commander mode quite often, and sometimes Iforget to reset it back to TTL, in the menu. If that doesn't work call NikonUSA, and they'll trouble shoot it over the phone. Hope you get it resolved quickly and for "Free."

I will be in Conn. that weekend, but will need to have a lot more info i.e. Venue-in or out, type of event, number of images they want, emailed or on a disc, rain or shine, how quickly do they want photos, etc.

Thanks.

Hi Gene,

Thanks. I just downloaded it, and tried it, - and it worked. It wasn't as intuitive as View NX2, but I figured it out.

It's good to know I have another program to "To fall back on," when my "Trusty" ViewNX2 doesn't work. Thanks again. I appreciate your help.

I have LR, but haven't really gotten into using it. I'm used to ViewNX2, and Photoshop, and so far that's all I have needed. When I have time, I guess I'll delve into LR, but for now I don't have the time to start learning a new program , and some of the quirks that LR offers. Thanks for your suggestion. Take care.
