Also, be careful of the crawl space! Animals can get in and tear stuff up in there also! We had raccoons tear up our crawl space. It cost $5000 to get it fixed. The insurance covered it. They won’t cover rodents! More information that I hope is informative for you from my experience. Good luck!

Be careful! Don’t let them into your attic! Make sure your attic vents and eave vents are securely screened so they can’t get in! They can cause severe damage that can cost a lot to repair! i know from experience! Otherwise great photos!

I feel your pain, $ 600.00 damage to my house last year they did.

only $600? I had tree squirrels come into my attic! They tore it up! I had to clean up all kinds of debris! I also had raccoons in my basement! That cost about $5000 but my insurance paid. They had to replace my a/c ductwork, insulation. It was a mess! Good luck. I also had gophers! They were a pain. I was able to get rid of them. That was a mess too!I live in Oregon also.

I have the sony m3. love it.I tried the fz1000. Being en experienced amateur The fz1000 was (at least to me) limited in it’s capabilities. The f stop range was f 2.8-11. Limited if you want to do anything about depth of field. Plus it didn’t feel right. So I bought the Sony RX10 m3. I have never looked back. The reason I bought the Sony was that I was tired of lugging around a nikon dslr with 2 lenses. It got to be a pain to mess with, travel, pack etc.It does everything I need. It was worth the high price! Good luck! Have a great adventure!

I suggest that you try cleaning the print head and cartridge contacts. They can get covered in ink and will cause error messages. Try that if you haven’t already. You can look up the error message on line to see what means. I had the same printer for years and had no problems.
I looked it up. That means the cyan cartridge needs to be replaced. Check your ink levels. that might fix it. You can also do a total reset of the printer. If you go to the canon community there is a question band answer about your exact question that you posted here.

I have traveled to Alaska many times. I began my tours with a nikon D60 with the kit lenses. I traveled all over the world with the same setup. I got tired of carrying that gear so I got rid of it. Then I had a bridge camera. Panasonic fz1000. I didn’t like it so I turned it back in and bought a Sony cyber shot DSC RX10 M3 It works great. It has a 24-600 mm(equivalent) lens. F2.4-4 (equivalent) It is a little bit big but not as bad as a dslr with the same type of lens. They now have the m4 of the same camera. The lens range is great from wide angle to telephoto. The images are clear. It is a little expensive $1200 for the m3, $1500 for the model 4 ( approximately). It is easy to carry and should work well on a bus tour. I also have a pac safe strap for it to try to keep it safe on my body. It is a camera strap with wire in it so nobody can cut it off of your neck while you are walking. If you still have the dslr camera storage case everything will fit in it batteries cleaning memory cards etc.
Here are some photos. I hope you like them. This is a great camera! I recommend it! Think about it.
It also has full manual control and a lot of bells and whistles. I think you will love it!
The photos are from Edinburgh Scotland and a tree that looks like an animal that I took in my neighborhood. I hope you like them!

Here is a repost of an entry from last December. I made a frame to lay my ipad on for copying slides and negatives. I put my iphone below the frame with the negative or slide mounted on. I made a paper holder to hold the slide and one for a negative. I use a pane of glass to keep the negative flat. I have a program called light box to illuminate the slide or negative. When I want to copy a slide I put the slide on the iphone and holder. I put my camera on the tripod. I have a sony cybershot dsc rx10 m3 on the tripod with the tripod reversed so the camera is close to the slide, set it to macro mode. I use timer mode for delay shutter. Take the picture.
When I take photo of a negative I put the negative in a holder under a pane of glass to keep it flat. Then I put the wooden frame over it. Then I put the ipad on top of it so I can see the negative. I set the ipad to camera mode, turn on classic invert. Put the camera on the tripod with the camera able to be close enough to get a clear photo of the ipad. Then I use delay shutter to take a photo with no shaking.
After I take the photos I send them to my Ipad via wireless so I have the photos.
It takes a little practice to get it to work!
Good luck!

Is there a full featured free photo editing program I can use on my IPAD Air model 3. I have been using snapseed , photoshop express and apple photos. They don’t seem todo what I need. Also how do I calibrate my screen for proper photo printing if I need to?
Any reply would be appreciated.
Thank You.

I had the Panasonic fz1000. I did not like it. I had just sold a nikon d60 because of the weight issues and having to carrying the lenses. I didn’t like the fz1000 because of lens issues and the small sensor. I then bought the Sony DSC Rx10 m3. It was more expensive but worth it.
It is a great camera. It has everything I need. I have been taking photos for over 60 years. I like the fact that the sony has all of the functions. The aperture has a good range for good depth of field photos. The Panasonic was only F2.8 to f8which doesn’t give a lot of depth of field regulation if you are interested. It is a good travel camera with an aperture of f2.8-f16 for good photos with a macro setting. Hera are some photos I took with it. They are very detailed. Take a look! I like my Sony. Good luck on your choice!

There is a whole section about copying slides in the digest. I myself have a setup for copying slides. It is posted in the section for copying slides. There are photos of my setup. I use my Iphone for illumination and a Digital camera to copy it. You can see it in that section. It is under the section copying slides. My name is Johnnyt. I also have a setup for copying b&w negatives. All the information is in the post. It is easy to do!
Have fun!

I have the Sony RX10 m3. It is a great camera. I had the panasonic fz1000. I didn’t like it. I have been photographing for many years and sometimes like to shoot in full manual mode. I like having full control over my camera, depth of field, shutter speed etc. I noticed that the fz1000 had a very small f-stop range. minimum f2.8-f4.0 maximum f 8. That isn’t too good for creativity. I didn’t like those spec’s so I returned it. Then I bought the Sony RX10m3. It works great! A little expensive and bulky but I don’t need to carry around a dslr and lenses anymore..It is expensive but worth it. Look into the sony RX10 m3 or 4. It will be worth it!
Good luck!

I copy slides using a digital camera, an Iphone using isoftbox for back illumination.I made a frame to put over the phone to make it so extra light does not enter the areaI use a slide/film mount from a scanner to keep everything plumb and level. I use a tripod with a reversible vertical mount for the camera. I take the photos in macro mode then I edit them in snapseed. Any editor will do.
I do the same things with negatives. I put the negatives in the holder and put them on the Iphone. I put them under the cover and put my Ipad on top of it. My Ipad supports a setting called classic invert. It converts negatives to positive images. I focus the camera on the Ipad and take a photo of the image. To steady everything I use the timer to take the photo with out any shake. I transfer the photos to my Ipad and edit them there.
Here are some photos of the setup. The camera isn’t in the photo because I used it to take the photos. It will take some fine tuning but it turns out pretty good. Good luck! Have fun!

I made a device that works pretty good. I used an iphone to use as a light box. I used a program called isoftbox to. I made a stand to mount on top of the phone. I used a slide mount from a scanner to put on the phone to make them stable. I then mounted the camera close to the rig. After I took the photo I cropped it. Then I used my ipad to scan b/w negatives. I turned the ipad to invert mode which turned the scans to positives. Then snapped a photo and cropped them.
Here are some photos of the apparatus.
Have fun!

I'm looking around for a short tripod for a DSLR. When I say tripod I mean more like a foot or cradle (off-the-shelf or improvised) to control the orientation of the camera when shooting from ground level.

My pocket tripod is too weak for the weight of the camera and off-center balance of the lens and is actually set too high anyway.

TIA

I also suggest a tripod that has a reversible head to get it lower.
I have a tripod that is reversible. It is a safe lock tripod. It isn’t made anymore. It is great for the job. Good luck
