Overall a bit too much contrast. #1 appears back-focused and the motion in the water adds additional softness. I don’t see too much 50/50. Compositions mostly OK in my view.
If you're indoors and don't need to shoot super small apertures I suggest bouncing light off walls or ceilings.
Your 400mm will be best suited for the center area of the field. This is where the majority of “header shots” will occur. Watch for goalie kicks when the ball gets high in the air, look for players zeroing in and the ball and hold the shutter down for a multi-shot sequence. These are the best “money shots” in soccer. I would also bring a 70-200 along for action occurring in the 10-40 yard range. Follow the ball and use Servo-Continuous focus.
I like #2. The background looks great to me. Many bird pictures are against either plain sky or water. Yours is more structured and interesting. I also like the processing and the 8x10ish crop.
To quote Micheal Smerconish “change the channel”. Too many of us stay fixed on a single source of information when there are credible opinions and interpretations of events on all sides of the political spectrum. It’s those that refuse diversity in thought that potentially doom our great country.
It’s been several years since I used it but ACDsee is a very user friendly program. It was very fast and efficient at editing jpegs. I’m not sure about RAW files.
I had my 5D3 converted by Spencer’s Camera in Utah.
A bunch of turkeys in every crowd I suppose. Great shots.
