looking better. Thanks for advise. I did happen to think we were standing under a canapy, I don't know if that made the difference or not.

I disagree with Bill and offer that the canopy could change the color balance. If sunlight can pass through it and if it is colored, even slightly, then you will have a color cast. Also, the sunlight can reflect off the ground and then off the canopy and other surfaces introducing a cast. At a minimum, this picture probably has a mix of direct and indirect lighting, each of which, may have a different color temperature.

You have a ways of dealing with this. One, use the auto-white-balance or a preset on the camera. This is little more than guess work but is a good start. Two, adjust in post-processing as above. Jim did it the right way. A simpler but possible less accurate way is to use the white balance tool found in many if not most editing programs. Three, use the Expodisc to get the correct white balance when shooting. Four, fill flash.

I hope this helps.

Any independent repair center should service grey market. The grey market problems usually come into play with equipment still under warranty and sent to a manufactures repair center. I never serviced equipment under warranty due to the fact I didn't like the burden of dealing with the manufacturers red tape. sort of like dealing with the Federal government if you know what I mean. I would take in a camera and ship it for the customer for a small fee. Many people didn't want to hassle with the packing and mailing. They were happy to pay me to do it and I would get repeat business with other equipment they owned and also do repairs when the camera had a problem and was no longer under warranty.

I spoke to two repair centers and neither would touch gray market even out of warranty. I think that is called hardball. Sigma USA however will.

I doubt if they repair Canon. The original post involved Canon and Sigma lenses. I might be wrong and maybe they service other brands but I remember a shop in that location that was an actual Nikon repair center. Strictly Nikon service.

There are actually two repair services a few blocks from each other. Both service Sigma and Canon. The question is whether they will service gray market and have the equipment for this problem.

I used them for my Mamiya C330 when they were on Grand Avenue in Chicago. However, they will not service gray market. Thanks for responding.

Don't recommend Strauss Photo Technical Service, Inc Washington DC Several years ago I sent them a Canon pro lens for repairs, they emailed me about the lens said they were waiting for parts from Canon, then they quit answering my emals. That was four years ago.
Some one on UHH suggested Rick's repair. I sent him a couple Canon camera's for repair and was happy with results. Will try to find his info or maybe someone else has it. Good luck Bee

Hi Bee. Thanks for the information. I have been unsuccessful in contacting Rick and am now looking elsewhere.

He's got a great reputation. Don't write him off yet. I did camera repair for over 20 years but have been out of it for about 8 years now. One problem you might run into is sending the Canon body to Canon with another brand of lens. Here's a thought. If you have a place nearby that sells compatible lenses (Best Buy) take the camera in to try a new lens. Shoot at different focal lengths and distances in the store then go home and upload the images. Simple quick test that will cost you nothing. Then go from there. I would suggest a real camera store but they, unfortunately, are few and far between these days.

I respect your opinion and will give him a third try but three strikes and he is out. I will email him this time.

I spent a few hours shooting various targets under various conditions. The scientist in me. I ultimately had to make my own target to get a definitive answer but am sure of the rear focusing.

I could send the body and lenses back to the manufacturers but that would involve a lot of extra time and expense.

Thanks for your input.

Your camera should have a focus tuning feature that will let you tune the cameras AF system to match the lenses. Canon refuses to provide aftermarket lensmakers with their AF Algorithm and that makes the aftermarket have to reverse-engineer their "best guess" as to how to setup the lens' focus for each camera.
Canon has partnered with Tamron recently to provide Tamron with that AF algorithm in exchange for Tamrons releasing only Canon mount lenses whenever they release a new model. This was first done with the 70-200mm F2.8 VC lens, and most recently with the new 150-600mm zoom lens.

Thanks for the input. Canon has the AF adjustment on the 50D and 70D but not the 60D. What were they thinking!

I cannot believe that Tamron would do something like that. Talk about the free market.

Sounds like a body problem if it's occurring with two different lenses. Contact Rick at http://www.discountcamerarepair.com/.

I left two phone messages for him and never heard back. I own a business and expect the kind of treatment from a vendor that I give my customers. This experience does not give me the proverbial warm and fuzzy feeling.

Do you have more than one lens? Changing lenses can narrow down the problem to a body problem or a lens problem. You might also want to expand on the info. Specifically which Canon model and which Sigma lens. The more info the better. Also a better description of the problem. Why do you feel the AF needs to be checked?

Canon 60D, Canon 18-200, Sigma 70-200. Both lenses are rear focusing. Checked on a target. Same problem with viewfinder or live view and different focal lengths.

I have tried it both along the short and long edges of the flash head and did not see a difference on a near subject. Now, I keep it on the long side.
