This adult Osprey (part of the raptor family) sat atop a tall tree in my back yard here in Fort Lauderdale, Fl. I slipped in close (right under his perch, and whistled at him. This was the look I got. I didn't know if I made him mad and should run, or keep shooting. If looks could kill! I'm glad I'm not a fish as surely I would have become his lunch.
Some times a sharp sound can stop a running deer or rabbit. It may not always get the reaction you expect, but it will often cause an unusual result.

When Settings are: Slot 1= Raw & Jpeg and Slot 2 = Overflow. Only Jpegs are shown, and Jpeg and Raw files are erased together.

When Settings are: Raw in Slot1 and Jpegs Slot 2.
The Raw and Jpeg files are shown and edited separately, and can be deleted separately in the camera.

The composition is centered both ways. Try several shots, some off center vertically, horizontally, and both. This may add even more interest to your work. An amazing scene.

The first one is better in it's composition. The other items in the view are a point of reference to the eye. The second one feels like it is stood front and center at attention and creates a feeling of stiffness. How it is used or its intent may be an influence, but the first one has it's esthetics.

Art is a form of self expression that is intended to incite a response in others or for self pleasure. A photo is always an abstract from the reality, or it would be a copy of it. The two dimensional, spectrum altered, perspective changed, exposure, and contrast adjusted photo is a form of photographic art. It's more than being a perfect reproduction or 'likeness' of what was real, its the photographers 'take' on it, in the hope that when viewed by others will render an agreeable or intended response. Some are studies in repulsion and distain, most are appealing to a sense of beauty and others documentary or historic. Three or fore aspects in one photo is a great picture.

You can use the two cards in an overflow mode or separate the jpeg files to one and the nef or raw files to the other.
You will still have the same amount of space either way, but it's easier to separate them on two different chips. The delete will get both when done in the camera. Test it each way and see how it works out.

Most things in photography are not reality. The art is the producers abstraction from real to what he expresses in his usually two dimensional, perspective shifted, spectrum adjusted, exposure altered presentation or interpretation.
This work was an expression of something that doesn't happen, but would be nice to see. A large lion allowing a little girl to tie bows in it's hair. It was done to prompt a response in children. Photographic distortion from what is real is art. Hopefully, it elicits an emotional response in the viewer. What is yours?

As a photographer and artist, I often cross the lines between the fields. Here is a sample produced in digital art form using Corel Painter 12. The background and color is hand painted digitally using brushes and colors from a pallet. The children were photographed on a sidewalk with traffic in the background. The result is a study in light. The subject was for emotional appeal, photographic and artistic values. What is your opinion of blurring the lines between the two forms of artistic media.

I have used a D7000 for about a year now. In looking at the d7100 I noticed the frame rate on video is 60 in 1080p mode, where as the older D7000 is much lower. If your interest is video, this could be a quantum leap for you.
I recently did a search on "Nikon D7000 vs D7100". The results may also help you.

Something to consider:
Why did you choose the D7000? Will this new equipment serve your present and future needs in the same ways.
You like my myself can be inspired by photos on line, but what if that's not your area of experience or planned future? What will render the greatest return in terms of money, self fulfillment, or impress others, are all areas to review prior to making the 'leap of faith' into new equipment. This is especially true if that equipment is radically different from that which you have honed your skills on.
Hope this gives some food for thought.
