I am looking to purchase a 2x Mutar lens converter for my Zeiss 300mm lens. The lens magnification is twice the focal length, but what does "Exposure magnification 4X" mean?
It is an F4 lens. What will the largest effective F stop then be with the converter?

If you find one, please let me know. Also, a new book on the NEX-7 will be out on June 6. It's by Busch who also authored books on the other NEX models.
I'm thinking of buying a Tokina 11-16mm. Do you know if image stabilization would work with this lens?
Thanks,
Bill

I have a 300mm Zeiss lens that has significant blooming and wonder whether it is worth it to have it cleaned as I've heard the fungus can ruin the coatings thus causing flare.
If you believe you can remedy this situation, please provide an estimate and an address.

Thank you,

Bill

The problem is, the fungus is not on the front element, but on an interior element or elements. This is a superior lens and I am trying to determine whether to spend more money on it or simply abandon it and buy another telephoto as I am looking to buy an NEX-7 which, with an APS sensor, would result in an otherwise superb 450 mm 4.5 lens.
Having read your other posts, I highly value your opinions.

Thank you,

Bill

Yes, it's cloudy fungus.

I have a Zeiss Contax 300mm F4 lens which has been sitting in a closet for years and has developed significant lens blooming.
Will this degrade the image quality?
Thanks,

I like the shot as well. Good composition, proper exposure and depth of field. What lens were you using?

Best,

Thanks. IS seems to be for hand-held shots only except when shooting sports where instantaneous focus is required.

Thank you. That makes sense and helps me a lot.

I am using a 70-200 Canon F2.8 now with IS built into the lens, but intend to get a Sony NEX-7 which has the IS built into the body, so I am, therefore, doubly confused.

Thanks for your insight.

Thanks. You would think the manuals would be a bit more definitive on this subject.

Thanks, MollyMolly,

I suspect you're right and that IS is for stationary hand-held shots.
