Hi alberio
There is some nebulosity that does extend out to that bright blue star, but I haven't seen it come out that much before. If there was any haze in the sky it may be scattered light off the blue star that makes it standout like that.
The weather here has been really sucky for more than a month, so I haven't taken an shots for awhile. I'm completely fogged in with drizzle right now.

That's probably due to the wispy clouds moving in.
You can blame me for your bad weather, due to my recent purchase.

Nice shot of M42. I noticed a few noise artifacts, did you use any darkframes for noise reduction?

Thanks Ballard. No Darks, just a quick process of 15x15sec in a very light polluted sky.
I've not seen that blue nebulosity below M42 before. Yeah the artifacts probably came from my processing workflow. I was only able to get limited data due to clouds moving in.

I think it was 110 billion, or maybe 110 million??? Doesn't really make any difference up in those stratospheres does it? Let's see ...Maybe Bezos could boycott NBC and ... or maybe he could just buy up a few NFL franchises and start his own league or maybe we could all just relax and watch AGT or Survivors and fall asleep in front of the TV like our cat does!

Hahaha, that's what we do.

Actually, there is a bridge in London that is named London Bridge. According to Wikipedia, this bridge was built in place of old, XlX century stone bridge, which, in turn, had replaced even the older one! I like both images of the legendary Tower Bridge, Gaylord!

The one we have in Lake Havasu City Arizona is the one Sir William Wallace's and many other dignitaries heads were put on spikes to discourage rebellion against the King.

I just found out that the Chiefs playoff game tonight will only be available via streaming Peacock. I gotta say that this really makes me mad, as I don't have Peacock and don't even have a way to stream it on my big screen tv even if I did sign up for it. Frankly, I see this as a move toward having to pay to watch all sports and hope they have a very poor response and that others are upset about this as well. It was bad enough that the Thursday night games were restricted, but everyone should get to see the playoff games and they make plenty of money putting them on network TV. Is this really the future of sports on TV?

If they do this for the Super Bowl, it might be the straw that breaks the camels back.

I listened to Chiefs network radio. They just won 26-7. It was brass monkey football, the 4th coldest game on record. There were two shirtless fools there as well. Andy Reid's mustache frosted over. I agree with you about restricting the games. Peacock was putting out pretty sweet offers, I hope enough people were able to resist the temptation.

I resisted.

-40f no wind in Gunnison Colo. My dad and I had to dismantle a wrecked Luscomb Silvair and load it on a flatbed trailer to rebuild it that summer.

A few months back we had a Focus Stacking and HDR talk at the club followed by an exercise session. I've shown a few of my trial attempts in previous posts.

But I've been waiting / looking for an opportunity to try out focus stacking in real life, and that opportunity arrived with the recent flooding causung the River Thames to burst it's banks.

For this shot I used three images focused on the foreground, the bollards, and the more distant trees. All three were converted to TIFF before processing in AFFINITY 2 (my mentor Robin Whalley - Lenscraft) says AFFINITY works better this way, but I don't understand why.

I was then able to select certain area's of individual images to remove ghosting etc, before a final sharpen / clarity etc. Interested to hear what you think.

Well I've never tried this technique, but yours came out very sharp. Nice photo.
