I like it too - it's a lovely shot.

I went through some older photos as I was looking for a specific shot.
Came across a shot I took of my Paso Fino gelding, in the fog...and was like "Whoa. Why did I never notice this one??"
It's not sharp. It's overexposed. But I just love it. :)
P.S. His name is Oscuro del Gavilan -- Oscuro, meaning "Dark", because he was (as all gray horses are) born black. He does try to do his name proud, and rolls in as much mud as he's able to find. :P

Can anyone recommend a photo-album app or company? I used Apple for this in the past, but they discontinued that service. I’m looking to create a nice bound book of printed photos from my digital library. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Wow, I hope I get that close when I go to Africa this year. Lucky you.

We came across this pride of lions. They were on the hunt. The only light I had was the spot used by the tracker from the front of the vehicle. I was at the back. The 3rd pic says it's all fun and games till someone gets hurt. No one got hurt. The last shot I took while scared spitless. This lioness was walking beside our vehicle. I started taking pictures when she got within 10-12 feet of me. She heard the click of the lens, stopped and looked right at me. Not supposed to happen. I took one more but I was too scared to compose it. That is the last shot. After a few seconds, she moved on and we all breathed a sigh of relief. All shots were taken with a Canon 70D, Tamron 18-400 at ISO 6400.

Soft boxes work quite well or you can aim the flashhead upward and use a bounce card directly behind it. I currently use a Profoto A1 light with a soft bounce and it works very well.

Have been asked to shoot at a friends 70th birthday party at night in a golf club dining facility with high ceiling, and part of the time outside at night. These are not posed portraits but candid walk around handheld shots.

Planning to use one of my nikons with a 24-70 VR 2.8 lens. I have a SB700 speed light, but have not used it much. Probably leave it on TTL mode. I am familiar with bouncing light off of walls and ceilings that are not too high. Rather than mount the speed light on the camera, I also use a coiled cable to hand hold the light and shoot one-handed.

What I do not have and have not used, is one of those "soft box" fabric hoods to put over the light to soften it. Is this a good idea and if I do get one, does the TTL work the same way or will it under expose?

Thanks Greg. I did do the search and the two posts on an 18-400 lens are from 2017. There is a full page Tamron ad in the Dec 2018 issue of Outdoor Photographer, advertising the B028 version of the 18-400 lens. I assume this is their latest version. This is the specific lens I'm interested in.

DebAnn, there are a lot of UHH member that use this lens and one lady in England has carried it all around the world including the USA and Africa. To my knowledge she only has a kit lens as her other lens. Having a back up lens would be important to me for a trip of that type but I believe an extra body maybe even more important than another lens and of course a lot of memory cards and batteries. If your were to search for "Tamron 18-400mm" you will find a lot of additional feedback.
