I am one, and extremely happy with it. Have a K-5 Special Edition and a K-1. Multiple lenses, many of them from the film day, both manual and AF.

We are not alone nor on the back of the bus. Check out 2 forums on Facebook: PENTAX K-1 Full FRAME USERS and Pentax Camera Users.

Who gives a flip that Pentax is not in the top 10 DSLR sellers?

Best,
Charlie

I owned for years a Pentax 6x7, and dearly loved it. It was just a giant 35mm. Shot many landscapes with Fuji film. It, too. was heavy and bulky. Most may not know that Pentax makes adapters to allow use of the 6x7 and 645 lenses work on their DSLRs.
I carried the monster on an extra- padded heavy tripod when hiking. Once dropped the rig when I jumped before walking over a rattlesnake. Put a nice ding on the camera body but it continued to function normally. I wonder if even today's Pro level cameras would have survived that drop?

Steve, what I most like about the Fuji is that it is mirrorless, and thus lighter. The Pentax 645 has a huge heavy mirror, but the camera has a mirror lock up feature. This requires a tripod, but then for landscape work we use that. It is written by all who have used the 645 hand held that the in- camera image stabilization works well.

It is going to be my next camera. In the past (back when I was photoing dinosaurs), I had a Pentax 6x7 and loved it. Presently I use a Pentax K-1 and K-3. My partner is a Nikon person but jealous of my Astrotracer and Pixel Shift Resolution. Her images rival mine.

Steve, take a look at the Pentax 645Z. It is slightly cheaper than the Fuji, and has many second hand both manual and AF lenses available at reasonable prices: macros, zooms and primes. It can also be hand held when the light is right and functions far more like a good DSLR. Read Ming Thein's three part blog on his use of it.
Pentax also makes adapters so one can use dslr and even the old manual 6x7 lenses. While I greatly admire the Fuji, at present I think the Pentax is an overall better camera.
