In this case, I wonder if a Dremel tool could saw the old filter off?

That was my thought too. Use the Dremel very carefully to cut the rim of the old filter in two. Then bend the rim off the camera mount and remove it. That's probably how Sigma would remove it. Just be careful you don't cut into the lens mount.

Here's a review of both lenses you are looking at. The 18-200 VR is the clear winner.

Interesting question and I'm anxious to hear the replies from those with experience with both lenses. I have the Nikon 18-200 VR and like the extra low end of that lens as compared to the 28-200 version, and I'm pretty happy with the picture quality but it's not the sharpest lens in my bag when comparing it to my prime lenses. The 18-200 does compare favorably to some of the other 18-200 lenses available so I'm pretty happy with it. When searching for the Nikon 28-200 lens I find that it has been discontinued.

Excellent and interesting comparisons. I like the iPhone photo the best.

Everybody take a deep breath. The OP has not responded to any questions nor has he updated the situation. This will get straightened out but he may not wish to update us. B&H has not changed their policies. We are definitely missing some part of the story.

Nikon's "Black Friday Savings" 6-page brochure out today lists the D750 (body only) on sale at $1499.99.
The D810 (body only) is listed at $2799.99.

Check your local paper. My morning paper today had a 6-page insert on Nikon deals. LOTS of good deals on cameras and lenses. I'm sure there must be a website link, or go to the Nikon USA website and search for "Black Friday Savings". I do not see a Nikon 18-300 or a Nikon 18-400 in this ad.

No.
Just the presence of 3200 will discredit you as a serious pro.
If it is your only backup, then you need to get more serious about the work.

I'm betting that no one at that wedding would know the difference between a D3200 and a D850. No one would care what he is using as long as the photos turn out well.

Sorry, I forget some folks can't unscrew four screws and take whats left of the old mount off and replace it with less than $5 one from eBay. - Dave

Thanks for the tip Dave. Just bought one off of Ebay for $4.95 shipped to keep as a spare. Now that I have one as a spare I'll likely never need it. Good insurance though.

I think plastic mounting rings are a bonus. If you drop your camera and the ring breaks it's a less than $5 fix. If it were a metal ring think of the damage that could be done to the camera lens mount. - dave

Others have said it cost them $100 plus postage/insurance to have it repaired/replaced at a Nikon Service Center. Where do you get it fixed for "less than $5"?

I've had excellent results with the Nikon 18-55 VRII and the 55-210 OSS. The only downside is the cheap plastic mounting rings on those lenses. Anyone have any problems with that mounting ring on the kit lenses?

I haven't been too happy with "Image Data Converter" either. Thanks for info on the new program. I'm anxious to try it on my next batch of raw captures.

However the D3100, although it doesn't have a focus motor can mount the Pre-AIS and Non-AIS manual lenses without modifying them.

Are you sure of that? I've been trying to get a definitive answer to that question but internet responses are contradictory. For instance, I found this,

"Do not mount unmodified NAI, also called Pre-AI, non-AI, F-type (A, C, F, H & HC, K, N & NC, O, PD, Q & QD, S & SC, T, UD, Auto, etc.) lenses on your Nikon DSLR or you will be sorry. The fact that the NAI compatible Nikon Df lists certain NAI Nikkor Auto lenses as incompatible ought to be warning enough!"

I have a D3300 and a couple of non-AI lenses from my Nikon F days and I'd like to find out for certain if I can mount and use them on my camera without damaging anything. I understand the Auto Focus will not work and I will need to focus them manually.
