I use the Canon Pro-100 and like it. However, I had a lot of trouble at first getting good prints.
The trick I found (after much Googling) was to use the software that comes with the printer - Canon Print Studio Pro.
As far as can tell, it is only available as a plugin to LR or PS (and probably other photo processing software).
To access in LR, click File | Plug In Extras | Canon Print Studio Pro.

It is HORRIBLY slow to launch, but once it is ready to print, it works well with any ICC profile you select and I have only gotten bad
prints when I put the paper in wrong, or used the wrong profile. I wasted a lot of paper trying figure out how to make LR print directly.
PhotoShop was better, but still not as reliable as Print Studio Pro.

That is my 2 cents. Hope it helps. By the way, when I order ink, I order from Canon - no different price than any other source, free shipping, and they often throw in "gifts" such
as paper sample packages. Some of them are useful, but they don't add to your cost, so why not.
