I only did the short trip up on the wheel but that was worth doing
A short trip from the Forth & Clyde canal on the wheel up to the Union canal and back again. There are barges for hire if you plan a longer stay
Managed to catch a calm day
Great shots. Made this "weegie" very happy
Thank you for your kind comments.

Saw the Flare on my way home from work and just had to stop in the layby to catch this.
This is my first evening/nighttime shots on manual and would appreciate advice to improve my settings.
Taken with a Canon powershot sx240 compact. (i've forgotten the settings and will start to write them down in future)
Thanks again for all the advice, I'll be visiting the local camera shop and trying out a few. Will let you know how I get on.
Andy
nice enhancement, i have no experience whatsoever with post processing, but I'll learn
Many Thanks for advice and encouragement, will take it all on board
Thanks JR1. I'm just looking to take next step. I have no particular subjects in mind to photograph, just scenic and family and friends.
Hello to all. I've recently joined your Forum and have enjoyed reading all the posts. I'm very new to photography and have been using a point and shoot in auto forever. I've recently moved to manual settings and I'm enjoying more control over my images. My question is.... I currently use a Canon Powershot sx240 compact and love the brightness and colour of the images. If I were to move to a DSLR what would you recommend for a beginner like myself?
I've attached a couple of recent shots from home (Scotland) and would welcome all advice.
