Hope one of you can figure out what's happening here. When I use the crop tool in Paint Shop Pro 2019, the image turns brighter than it should be and stays overexposed when I confirm the crop. I haven't experienced this before.

In Canada, Radio Shack became The Source (I think changed ownership a couple of times.) But it's still around and a good place to get small techie stuff.

The other day I was looking at some of my old photo equipment and came across these two
batteries. Radio Shack became bankrupt and it was sold to a company that filed two years
later for bankruptcy as well. In 2017 Radio Shack's stores closed down. The company did
sell off the use of its name to places in Mexico and a few other countries where it was
totally independent of the parent company in the US. I would guess that those who dabbled
in building and repairing of electronic equipment have found other sources to replace what
Radio Shack use to sell. Either that or you go to Mexico. All this is hard to believe since
the company has been around since its start of its first store in Boston in 1921.

I just saw today on the News today, that Amazon has decided not to have a Headquarters in NYC. Because local politicians and businesses didn't like the Tax Breaks Amazon were going to get. 25,000 good paying jobs were promised in NYC. The debate was that New York City does not give Tax Breaks to the average business man or woman, as they do the rich. The mayor and governor arranged these tax breaks for Amazon, and are upset that Amazon is now leaving NYC. To go elsewhere.

The ability to attract a huge corporation to a city is of major importance to local economies. But, cities can't expect such corporations to move in without some give and take on both sides. Right now in Toronto, one of Google's sister companies is pushing a development of our Port Lands, where they will build the underground infrastructure and finance a publicly-owned t***sit line. In return, the company wants to rec**p its investment and make a "modest" profit from a share of developer fees, increased property taxes and increased land value that come from its investment. Politicians are trying to have the public believe that they knew nothing of the plans until they were revealed in the local newspaper a couple of days ago. The headline the next day was "Politicians react with shock, anger." Politicians must think we are all stupid! Of course Google isn't going to create a mini city on underused land, creating thousands of jobs and increasing the local economy without some kind of handsome return on their investment. Why would they? By the way, Toronto is willing to revisit talks with Amazon about having them build their headquarters here - but apparently our first proposal stands - no extra incentives!

Thanks to everyone who posted on this question. For me, it answered a question of my own - which body and lenses would be the most practical for my trip to Africa, my 6D Mk II or my 70D. I will be taking the 70D with a new Tamron 18-400 lens.

This is my favorite. It was taken about 1974. The who is my daughter and the where is unknown as well as the camera and film. It was total luck on my part as the location, the pose and the shutter click all just happened.

That's so beautiful and such a great keeper!

Very nice photo of a Bactrian camel. Commonly, the camels we see people riding are the one-humped Dromedary camels.

I volunteer at our local animal shelter. We had a pet adoption event at a local brewery, and 18 pets were adopted. 17 dogs and one cat. I was suspect of the new venue, but there was great turnout, and we may do it on a more regular basis. I've attached a few photos of the event.

Great work at the shelter - and lovely photos.

I have one from April 7th, 2016. We were on a cruise from Florida to Barcelona, Spain. I was on my way to dinner & stepped outside to check the sunset. It was our 2nd day at sea. Glad my camera was with me as I snapped this sunset shot. Was pleased to have caught the reflection of the setting sun in the dining room windows. It's one of my very favorite shots. Bob

Good point about having one's own criteria for "best photo". For me, it isn't usually about having a technically great shot. It's more about a feeling you get when you look at it. Maybe it evokes a memory or a particular occasion or just an expression that is so clearly associated with a person. I really like your sailboat image.

Every photographer has his/her own criteria for "Best Photo" and may be the only person so rating it. It doesn't matter if the photographer thinks is her/his best who's to debate it.

My favorite venue is boat races, sail or power so there is little similarity to many of my "best" shots but am attaching two; you make the calls.

The first photo is of a Log Canoe race on the Tred Avon River in Maryland. These four boats are all trying to round the mark at almost the same time; it shows the skills of the skipper and helmsman or woman that there wasn't an accident or collision. These boats are from a bygone era when similar and a few larger boats were the freight carriers here on the Chesapeake Bay. Most of them are original and several are 100 years old. There are only 12 left still in racing condition of the hundreds that were built in the 1800's. The steamers put them out of business; they were not necessarily faster but carried more cargo.

The second photo is of a Jersey Speed Skiff racing and almost airborne on the Choptank River in Cambridge, MD. If you look closely you will see that only 1/2 of the prop is in the water, and if the picture is really enlarged, the left rear of the hull is just above the water surface. The original boats were designed and built after WW I and with the engines then available could get up to about 30 MPH; with today's engines and flat water, they have been known to about double that speed using a four cycle 225 cu. in. gasoline engine not supercharged.
Every photographer has his/her own criteria for &q... (show quote)
