the cat was actually probably pretty safe... eagles CAN catch and eat house pets, but their preference is fish, and unless the eagle was pretty hungry, or felt threatened (which it obviously didn't) it probably wouldn't bother the cat. it LOOKS like it was about ready to attack, but then, eagles ALWAYS look like that!
Winston,thank you for your kind words.Seriously,why do you think a shy eagle approached human dwelling,just to pose for me??? The photo was taken in February when eagles cannot find much to eat so they move to town and eat garbage, crows, gulls and pets.Yes,they prefer fish but salmon run in this area takes place only in June,July and August.So the cat WAS in a serious danger because the eagle WAS hungry enough to beg humans for food.And the cat was asking for aggressive response because she was reaching for the tail feathers.By the way take a look at the enclosed photo of an eagle sprayed with fresh blood of a mammal,not fish.
