Meeting a wild bear is always risky proposition,here are a few moments I really do not care to repeat.Brown bears alias grizzlies are the worst offenders,they have no fear and like to show their superiority to humans.Brown bear attack is something you never forget (if you live thru it).
Uffff,that was close....
Pushing it.
Bear attack,only the swinging head came up sharp..

Those are really awesome, and must say would cause a certain pucker factor X10 as I live here in NW Montana and know just how unforgiving these creatures can be.

My dog was laying at my feet snoozing when I clicked on this post. She jumped up and started barking as I think she felt the "willies" that I just got from looking at the pics. Kind of like looking over the edge of a cliff type of feeling. :shock: Awesome pics...

Great shots. People like the guy in the second shot make me very nervous. With bears especially, but other wild animals as well, and I hope you were in retreat of had a very long lens in the third.

No,I was not in a retreat and the shot was taken with a wide angle lens setting.At this point the bear was about 15feet from me and I was thinking "this is the last shot of my life and it will be blurry".))))))

15 foot is too close for comfort. Glad the shot turned out and you made it out alive.

Aww,man great shots! I would have loved to have been there! Dang! I love wildlife and these are some I'd love to photograph... Closest thing we have here is the Zoo with black bears "and they wouldn't let me in the exhibit to take close ups :( "

Man,be careful what you are wishing for.I definitely think that encounter was one too many and my knees were kind of weak for a couple of days.I do not mind meeting black bears face to face but brownies are bad news.

Much agreed on the brown bears as they are very temperamental, but I've got a 840mm lens for that reason, black bears on the other hand are calmer but still deadly! A friend of mine lives in the country and had a brown bear named "smokey", he got loose one day and the town Sheriff shot him, anyway, he was very friendly but that was before I got into photography. Smokey was more like a big puppy if you will.

Sure,black bears can do a good number on you as well but everybody who dealt with brownies has tendency to underestimate black bears.840mm lens wouldn`t do you any good here inside rainforest,the light levels are extremely low.Sorry to hear about Smokey.By the way the link to your website doees not work.
