My first camera was a Minota film camera. I got it along with 2 leneses and from an employee for very cheap because he really needed money. When I went to digital I got a new Olympus Evolt 620 with 2 leneses because the price was right. This camera served me well for 3 years until it just stopped working so like an idiot I got another refurbished body. Well that one lasted a year and 1/2 and stopped! I sent it in to be repaired and Minota said it could not be repaired. Wow was I pissed. So I went to Nikon starting with a D3200 and then after a couple years upgraded to a D7100 and have never looked back.

I was looking for the same thing and after tons of research including fellow Hoggers I got the 18-140 and it is excellent so far. I combine that with a 35mm 1.8 and 75-300mm.

Excellent video. I always loved Wes Montgomery. I got a chance to see him perform live at few times at a club called The Lighthouse in Hermosa Beach, Ca. He and Grant Green are my favorites.

He Hoggers, anyone do business with Greens' Camera World? Saw them selling on Amazon. I am in the market for a Nikon D7100 and they have an excellent price. I contacted them and was assured it was a US model with the Nikon warranty. I usually buy from Adorama and Cameta. Also anyone got a 7100 for sale out there?

Get yourself a 35mm very sharp and fast for groups and tight spaces. 50mm better for portraits. with what you have and these you should be good to go.

Yes, home owners insurance is a great way to insure your gear.Last year my gear was stolen. I submitted a claim to my homeowners insurance (Hartford) for $2400 less $500 detuctible. They sent me a check for $2100. I was very happy I had that insurance.

I keep the 18-140mm on most of the time and switch it out with a 35mm 1.8. Also use an older manual focus 75-300 for more reach. Had a 55-300mm it was pretty good lens.

Thank for all your replies guys. At this point I'll probably gonna deal with Amazon as I have a Amazon store credit account and go with new. Cameta and B&H are my usual "go to"stores.

Hey Hoggers, looking to get a Nikon D7200 either New or Refurbished. Has anyone had experiences with certified refurbished with Amazon? I see a body only refurbished for $769 with a 90 day warranty. Thanks for any help here.

Yea i'm sure you are right however, the 7100/7200 are more in my price range right now. I'm sure the next jump I'l make is to full frame.

Hey guys I've been reading your posts about the 7100 vs 7200 and lots of reviews about both cameras. I owned a 7100 for 8 months and loved it till it got stolen along with all my other gear. I picked up a used 3200 for $100 bucks and now I am trying to decide on another 7100 or 7200. From what you guys are saying and all the reviews I've been reading it sounds like I should save that extra $200 or so and go back to the 7100. Thanks for the advice.
