My Dad was a funeral director in Detroit and told that one 50 years ago. Still brings a smile.

Made me smile on an otherwise scary election morning.

I've never worked in a restaurant, but I'm a retired "ops" guy. One possibility would be the necessity to bring in additional staff to have arrive at the table at relatively the same time. Just a guess.

Love these history lessons. I always copy & forward to my son's father-in-law, a retired "full bird" colonel who also enjoy. Keep them coming.

In addition to previous comments, if you are a senior (62 I think) get a Golden Eagle or Senior Card. They are good for a lifetime at any National Park and will save you a "ton".

It was the coldest winter ever. Many animals died because of the cold.

The Hedgehogs, realizing the situation, decided to group together to keep warm. This way they covered and protected themselves;

but the quills of each one wounded their closest companions.

After a while, they decided to distance themselves one from the other and they began to die, alone and frozen.

So they had to make a choice: either accept the quills of their companions or disappear from the Earth.

Wisely, they decided to go back to being together. They learned to live with the little wounds caused by the close relationship

with their companions in order to receive the heat that came from the others. This way they were able to survive.

The best relationship is not the one that brings together perfect people, but when each individual learns to live with the

imperfections of others and can admire the other person's good qualities.

Just learn to live with the Pricks in your life!

You could always dpot the engineers at the University of Detroit in the mid 60's. They all had slide rules on their belts.

I started in banking working in check processing in 1963. During that year we began using IBM 1401 computers which were as big as a large refridgerator, punch card programmed and had punch cards for output which had to be run again with a new punch card program to produce final output totals of check bundles which would be shipped to other banks. Card sorters would frequenly jam which created havoc especially at deadline times.

And you could buy a Texas Instruments calculator for $150 which could do square roots. It was much less expensive than an HP.

I posed your question who is a retired Fox exec and an Army bud from our photo unit in Germany. His is response is below.

"The NFL contracts with the networks allows them to reschedule a limited number of games each season. The goal is to assure the best games are played in prime time or in the late Sunday afternoon timeslot which is seen nationally. Early Sunday games are only broadcast in and near competing team markets. Teams and local stations have no control. Its a nightmare for them. Sold advertising is canceled. Hotel rooms unbooked. You get the picture."

How about "Look" beginning a sentence. I may be wrong but I think President Obama used that expression frequently. The talking heads on the talk news shows now use "look"a lot. Listen and you'll 'see' what I mean.
