One solution not mentioned so far is the GNARBOX which I purchased last year. it works great and I also back up the files even further using a portable SSD which is very small, this also lets me put the backups in several bags to insure nothing ever gets lost. Previously I had a WD My passport which was much larger but it ultimately failed which caused me to look into other options which is when I discovered the GNARBOX.
Thank you one and all for your input. it would appear that either the SB300 or SB400 will fit the bill.
I recently upgraded from the Nikon D3400 to the Z7 and love the new features. However the Z7 does not have a pop up flash which can be a drawback. I own the SB-700 flash but a small fill flash would be more convenient when out and about. The SB-700 is a bit bulky to carry around. Has anyone found a small flash that can be easily put in a pocket for just such times?
I purchased the 28-300 Nikon when I purchased the Z7. After several years with the 18-300 Nikon on the D5300. I made that decision while traveling and having to change lenses and was afraid of dropping or in one case I needed to clean the sensor with dust getting into the camera when I changed from a wide angle to a tele. Yes there are compromises but the peace of mind of always having the right zoom and not having to stop and change a lens in an area where there may be an issue sure is comforting.
