Great shot! I got up at 4 AM also, but here all we saw was Venus ... scanned the NW sky horizon for 20 minutes but didn't spot anything that looked like this. Supposedly tonight at 10 PM it'll be back on the horizon in the NW sky. Will try again! Congratulations on this shot!

My 30-something son doesn't understand my love of photography. He thinks photography is a commodity which will only increase into the future. He totally misunderstands the continuing education and growth aspects of photography which I find fascinating. I prefer taking photos over snapshots, although I'll still take snapshots to document a family vacation ... but I prefer my Sony RX100 over my iPhone!

We still have orioles in SouthCentral East Illinois. I have both Orchard & Baltimore varieties coming to my orange/jelly/sugarwater feeders. I read that they start to nest in June & disappear in late August, but we haven't had them disappear ... yet.

I rented the Sony RX10 & found it to almost as bulky/heavy as my Sony A7iii with Sony 24-105 f4, my daily walk around lens (RX10 2.41 lbs vs A7iii body 1.43 lbs & 24-105 f4 1.46 lbs - total 2.89 lbs). If I have my 50mm prime (.41 lbs) on the A7iii it's only 1.84 lbs vs. 2.41 lbs for the RX10).

Having said that, I also like keeping a small camera with me at all times - my choice was the Sony RX100 iv with a popup EVF. It's my solution to needing a 2nd camera body for times I have a bigger lens on the A7iii. I use it all the time, but not for birds/wildlife.

#1 with the perfect reflection of the waterfall is my favorite. Great shots! What month were you there? We're planning a bucket list trip to Yosemite. Thanks!

For anyone interested in drawing your own conclusions on Robert Frost's poem ... my favorite, here it is....

Mending Wall

BY ROBERT FROST

Something there is that doesn't love a wall,
That sends the frozen-ground-swell under it,
And spills the upper boulders in the sun;
And makes gaps even two can pass abreast.
The work of hunters is another thing:
I have come after them and made repair
Where they have left not one stone on a stone,
But they would have the rabbit out of hiding,
To please the yelping dogs. The gaps I mean,
No one has seen them made or heard them made,
But at spring mending-time we find them there.
I let my neighbor know beyond the hill;
And on a day we meet to walk the line
And set the wall between us once again.
We keep the wall between us as we go.
To each the boulders that have fallen to each.
And some are loaves and some so nearly balls
We have to use a spell to make them balance:
‘Stay where you are until our backs are turned!’
We wear our fingers rough with handling them.
Oh, just another kind of out-door game,
One on a side. It comes to little more:
There where it is we do not need the wall:
He is all pine and I am apple orchard.
My apple trees will never get across
And eat the cones under his pines, I tell him.
He only says, ‘Good fences make good neighbors.’
Spring is the mischief in me, and I wonder
If I could put a notion in his head:
‘Why do they make good neighbors? Isn't it
Where there are cows? But here there are no cows.
Before I built a wall I'd ask to know
What I was walling in or walling out,
And to whom I was like to give offense.
Something there is that doesn't love a wall,
That wants it down.’ I could say ‘Elves’ to him,
But it's not elves exactly, and I'd rather
He said it for himself. I see him there
Bringing a stone grasped firmly by the top
In each hand, like an old-stone savage armed.
He moves in darkness as it seems to me,
Not of woods only and the shade of trees.
He will not go behind his father's saying,
And he likes having thought of it so well
He says again, ‘Good fences make good neighbors.’

I keep my subscription Lightroom photos on an external hard drive - and back it up to yet another external hard drive. I have none in the cloud (at least that I know of....). Good luck!
