The frame is just right! great shot! Where in TN is Huntsville? I may want to visit!

Huntsville is located on U.S. Hwy. 27 in Scott County. We are about 15 miles south of the Kentucky state line. Winfield borders Kentucky on Hwy. 27.

The area with the animals is not open to visitors but it can be seen from the Kingtown Road. If you decide to visit, e-mail me for directions or e-mail me your phone number and I'll call you.

Winfield, Tennessee, that is.

Up the road a few miles from here, some folks have called in
a bunch of critters from across the big pond. Here are two.

I have a Nikon d5100. When I try to set the f-stop in aperture mode using a nikon 55-300mm lens, the lowest f-stop I can get taking pictures on a soccer field is 4.8. Why can't I get it lower?

Did you mean to say "4.5" or "4.8"?

Festus would say, "Now, that's a ding-dang dandy, Matthew!"

That's as good as it gets.

The best way to save a little money on a project like this is to eliminate the hyphens.:)

I have a Canon T3i and use a 75-300mm lens set at 300mm. I shoot at f/8 in APERTURE PRIORITY and usually at 800 ISO. I use the higher ISO because I'm too lazy to set up the tripod. Metering is set to "spot".

I have found that with the lens set at 300mm, the spot metering area is about the same size as the moon, which normally UNDERexposes the moon because it tries to make it 18% grey. I start out by setting the exposure compensation to -1/3 and take a few shots increasing each one by 1/3 stop. I have never had a fear of bracketing.

Setting the white balance to "cloudy" can give a pleasant yellow tint.

The latest information that I have is if it is a nickel metal hydride (NiMH) battery, it is best to recharge before it runs completely down. These batteries DO NOT develop a "memory" like the older ni-cad batteries. The ni-cad batteries SHOULD be completely discharged before recharging.

I'm sure others will chime in this. I were you, I would wait for more responses before making a decision.

My wife had to get a new hair curling iron. When I went to cut the tags off (she has Wet Macular, has trouble seeing those irritatingly small plastic threads they use), this is what I found!

Some idiot tried to use a hair curling iron to curl their eyelashes! Burnt the heck out of their eyeballs, sued the company, because there was no warning that a hot iron radiated heat, and could singe you precious eyeballs.

The result of modern education, you think?

The second side was almost as bad, have to warn you to keep your precious away from hot things? OMG.

Yes, I have been on UUH for quite a while, and I have seen just about everything.

Very good photos. Down south, we call #3 a hornet's nest.

Whatever, it's still an excellent shot.

Great shots, folks!

Here is one from the new Scott County Farmers' Market in Huntsville, Tennessee, on August 3, 2013.

Consider this: A blind person is getting the _ _ _ _ beaten out of him on the street by a mugger. Should he not have the right to protect himself? If the mugger is on top of him, I believe the blind person would be able to shoot him.

I hesitate to stir this up, but if George Zimmerman had been blind, I think he would still have been able to get a shot off.

The decision to use a gun by the blind or the non-blind would have to be made at the time of the attack. Just because a person is blind DOES NOT MAKE HIM STUPID!!

We are needlessly beating a dead horse here because if other states are like Tennessee, the appllicant for a carry permit must be able to demonstrate that he can place a certain number of rounds in a target at various distances before the permit is approved.
