I recently ran across a deal on the purchase of a Canon SLR. The previous owner wasn't too attentive about the batteries left in the camera. The top one spilled acid in the top part of the battery chamber. It happened to be a Duracell. It seems that all Duracell batteries tend to powder after a while. A lot of my buddies have lost good camera equipment because of this problem. Stick to specific batteries made for your camera. Needless to say, if you aren't using your equipment do not leave batteries in them.
I'd be very leery and would steer clear of those. We all have enough problems by way of malware and virus attacks on the net. That caution should be enough reason for not buying used cards.
For this self-portrait, I set up a tripod and camera and set the timer after composing the shot to take as much advantage of capturing the pyramid that stood behind me. The mountains are incidental to the image and add depth as well as scale.
Location: Temple of the Sun Teotihuacan Mexico. 2003.
Macros of bees doing their thing. My favorite is the shot of the bee on a sunlit flower. I feel I Captured more detail.
The second shot is of a bee totally enclosing itself within pennyroyal flower going after that sweetness within.
The third shot is of a dragonfly alighted upon an invasive weed that has become a problem here in Florida. The image has been composed on the fly to take advantage of the sunlight. (No pun intended).
Very nice work. I've done quite a bit of that sort of thing myself. I even had one restoration published in a book on retouching and restoration. --Bob
