Many people do not realize there are different types of solar eclipses, partial, where the sun looks like a crescent has been sliced away, an annular eclipse where a ring of the sun is visible around the sun and a total eclipse where the sun is completely obscured. During a total eclipse when none of the sun is visible the solar glasses are not needed. The change in the light between full sun and a small crescent of sun is hardly noticeable. It's when totality starts that the darkness arrives. Even though ecblackiii was directly under the sun's path he apparently saw an annular eclipse. The fact that he was underwhelmed is probably due to the fact that he missed the sun's beautiful corona which is only visible during the few minutes of totality. I witnessed the 2017 eclipse and any one claiming the animals behaviour does not change is perhaps just not paying attention.

If you are using a zoom lens crank it to a wide setting to locate the sun and then slowly turn it to tele adjusting the camera orientation to keep the sun in the frame. At the wider settings the sun will appear as a small dot.

It's said that the force of the collision was equal to being hit by an aircraft carrier and that the weight of the bridge wreckage put the bow of the boat on the bottom which certainly helped stop the boat.

10mm may be just a little mor, but not enough more, effective than .45. Most effective option is 12 ga. shotgun located alternately wit 00 buck shells and 12 ga. slugs. Pistols just piss off the bear. In which the pistol may be more effective to shoot yoursel and avoid the mauling. Please report if you survive.

A lot of consensus for a pistol points to a 44 magnum with hard cast bullets, 305-340 grains. Hard cast bullets because what is needed is penetration. You need to hit the bear in the chest and have the bullet exit the rear hopefully breaking the pelvis along the way. The 12 gauge shotgun is also excellent but it's harder to carry around and perhaps harder to bring into action. The 45 is great for stopping a human but not a 400-600 pound bear. When hunting the best scenario would be to have a partner standing ready while you tend to any downed game.

I have a Tamron 70-200 f/2.8 G2 and a Tamron 100-400 f/4.5-6.3 which I am considering using for the total eclipse. The 70-200 is better glass, but less range than the 100-400. Which would you chose for this event.

Best Regards

If you are using a DX camera the 200, 350 35mm equivalent, should withstand any cropping necessary. See my photo from the 2017 eclipse.

Judging from your post I think you already know the answer to your question. Stick with what you've got.

While waiting for some eagles to fish I noticed pelicans very high in the sky. I don’t think it is anything great but my wife loves it so I will post it.
Cropped a couple different ways.

The pano definitely takes the prize. Well done.
