I had the opportunity to see Bob Hope and cast including Raquel Welch in 1967 and again in 1968 when he had Ann Margaret in the show.

The photo I took in 1968 shows Bob Hope arriving and being greeted by the base commander. The second photo is of Ann Margaret performing. I took the original photos on slide film. Sorry for the poor quality.

No problem in making out Bob's "ski slope" nose. I loved that guy !!

I hear you. Those "portholes" were a feature on Buicks for some time. I suspect that they were more of a design feature than a functional way to dissipate engine heat... but I'm not certain about that. It's a point worth looking in to.

Thanks for the visit.

Buick "portholes"...a styling feature only it seems.

Classic example of designers turning a necessity into style. Duesenburgs (sp?) and Cords used these vents extensively but they were added by the coach builders who manufactured the bodies. Their presences were required by the crude nature of early engines. Don't remember the Fisher Bros. using them at all.

How about Buicks with their "portholes" ?

Definitely Maintenance of Way (MOW) cars most likely hauling ballast. Judging from fresh coat of paint they were recently shopped.
