Imagine there were no mirrors
It's easy if you try
No DSLRs to slow us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the photographers happy everyday

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Even though I had the Album, I still happen to be one of the many like Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd over The Beatles.

It’s a parody of a song.

A response to the parody of “Imagine”.

Expand your musical horizons.

I know the song and I Shot 2 of Paul McCartney's Concerts back in '94 at The Palace of Auburn Hills in Michigan. So I know the Song, But I Prefer Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd.

If you believe "a camera that performs" is about image quality, then OK you happen to be wrong.

Some cameras perform far beyond some others, yet as you presented in your post, all half decent cameras can make images indistinguishable from each other.

Performance is about how well a camera *enables* users to pursue many of their photographic intentions. Image quality is NOT performance.

Well My D850 Performs well and so does my D500. And if You wish to bring My D6 to the Party it really performs well. My Shutter Speed can go to 1/8000th of a sec. My D6 performs basically the same way, now my D500 goes to 1/4000 of a sec. but performs very well.

You might look up the definitions of all the terms that compose DSLR.

D - Digital
S L - Single Lens
R - Reflex

That is 'reflex' as in reflex mirror, a flopping / flapping mirror that continuously moves in and out (reflex) of the path of light from the lens to the sensor / film. A Mirrorless Interchangeable Lens Camera (MILC) is not a DSLR without a mirror, no more than a fish is not a bird without feathers ....

Gee, Thanks For The Information. I would never have figured that Out. I guess That I should Praise GOD for Blessing Me With My Z9 and My 400mm f 2.8 Nikon Z lens along with the new 2times Teleconverter. I even have a Third Blessing, my Wife is in Sinai Grace Hospital recovering from the Heart Attack when she looked at Her Checking Account. the 400mm f2.8 when the teleconverter is on it is simply amazing.

The youtube headline is a clickbait one for sure, but what they go on to say in the video is correct that Nikon will still make the models they already have, just no new DSLR models, and that Canon is doing the same.

Use what you have until they break and until there are no parts to fix them, that is what is already happening with some DSLR models, you cant get parts to repair them. That is the real start of DLSR extinction IMHO.

Cheers

My Friend happens to be a Nikon Rep. and Yes You are right. But, he told me that the D850, the D6, and even The New D780 along with the D5 are still being Produced. Plus, believe it or not, they still have a lot of D500's floating around and Nikon has Parts to repair any of the Camera's that I have listed in my reply. Plus they have Shutters and Sensors to Repair the D5600. Name any Nikon that You want and I will Reply to You very Quickly to Your Concerns.

While very entertaining banter, keep in mind all manufacturing companies have one thing in mind, to manufacture a product that customers will buy. If there was a market for pin hole cameras made out of cat litter boxes, Nikon, Canon and everyone else would start building them.

Photographers and camera manufacturers alike are fortunate that improved performance is what the customer wants and is what the manufacturers are able to provide.

Mirrorless cameras are able to provide improved performance, which is why manufacturers are building (and promoting) them. If a flopping mirror was what people wanted, that’s what they would build.

I bet the camera manufacturers would get a real kick out of seeing all of you arguing back and forth. If you asked them which type of camera was best, they’d tell you, “The one that sells.”
While very entertaining banter, keep in mind all m... (show quote)

Okay, You are Basically saying that Photographers want a Camera that Performs. Well, if You would have read My earlier reply where I stated that I could Take a Photo with My Z9, my D850, My D750, D6, D500 and I were to put 16 by 20's or 24by30's with a Photo Taken by Each Camera, with all of the same subject, you would not be able to tell me or a panel of 5 Photogs which Camera was used to take the Photo That You May Have Said "Oh That Photo was taken with a Z9 or the D500"
So, tell me if I'am right or wrong, I'am Dying to Hear Your Response.

Everything you said made sense except THIS last part, above.

You cannot “slander” a company. An entity. A “thing”. You can only “slander” a PERSON.

Okay, I understand that only a Person can be sued for Slander. When I posted that reply, I was trying to pound it Through this Person that it is not very Wise to run another Company down.

You Heard WRONG. What do You Call the D6 and the D780 and even the D850? Yeah Mirrorless really killed the DSLR. You People need to drop this stuff and NOW!!! You Guys act like You know more than what a Certain Corporation knows. Are You serious. You Hear a Click-Bait Story and You believe it Before it Hits what the Company States. Personally this Statement Should Make The Person Liable For Slander. Because spreading Lies is Not Right.

Mirrorless craze will fade in favor of cell phone cameras. Apple, Samsung, Huawei, Sony, and several others will dominate. AI will make most hardware superfluous.

Yeah, but as we use to say in Queens when we were growing up, Mickey Mantle was eventually going to leave but we knew that Derek Jeter and Aaron Judge would come through the Outfield Fence and take off where the other Greats Left Off. Guess what, it Happened so it may take some time for Cellphones to turn the Photography World Upside Down. Until they can Produce Inter-Changeable Lenses for them, ain't going to happen and Your AI Theory will work much better for DSLR's and Mirrorless than those Walkie-Talkies. Sorry to deflate Your Balloon, but I will now down another Oxycodone due to my Bone Cancer that has returned for Round 2, I will kick its Butt again so do not even think that I will be leaving, and I chase it down with a Crown on the Rocks. But, I do expect a Congratulations as I just got Remarried, something that I never planned on, but I went Back to Israel and found the Woman of My Dreams, and My Friends know that she is "The Woman of My Dreams" because I called them and told them that I married "The Woman of My Dreams"

In the electronics world, EOL (End of Life) is used. Or simply put do not use or buy it for something new you are building or using. Don't buy a DSLR!! The interesting thing is that EOL items can hang around for a very long time.

You know what, I was trying to think of that terminology. Thank You for Bringing that up. But remember, Tomorrow May Never Come, believe me as I Buried My Wife in 2005 along with My Son and My other Son was killed in Afghanistan in 2004. So I know a little about Lifespan.
