Someone posted some beautiful Ocotillo shots recently and I did not want to show this one in response to her nice work but I had to share it. There has been a lot of interest in Joshua Tree National Park recently This Ocotillo is in the park right alongside the highway. They also featured it in a brochure at the time... 2009.
Love your pictures. I drove Route 66 several times long before it was "historic." It was a real adventure. I don't think there was ever another road like it. Thanks for the memories.
I's been a hundred years since I was at Joshua Tree but I really liked it. Vegetation varies with altitude and there is a range in the park My most memorable experience was a guided tour of an abandoned ranch It took about a half day. My favorite picture from the visit.
I once scratched a very good lens and carefully painted over the scratch so it just blocked light rather than detracting it. I used the lens for years. All you can do is test the lens yourself.
Well, they are there. I was criticized once for removing a stop sign and power lines from in front of a California gold country 1862 church. I argued they were not there when the church was young so removing them made the picture more authentic. But, this is your picture. Do it your way.
What kind of a lens did you use? I live 17 miles away and use a 500 mm lens and don't get that much detail. I think, if you were on the causeway, you were much closer than you think. I passed up that shot thinking the lighting was impossible. Haze is a problem, too.
