Onaway, Michigan

The falling/leaning fence posts bother my sense of orthagonality/verticality Also, the posts to the left overlap the edge of the barn, A step closer might have made it possible to provide seperation twixt post and barn while still maintaining separation between the right edge of the barn and the tree. The photo is well exposed, good camera focus was achieved and the subject is appealing but the two things about there photogs feet not being close enough are bothersome to me. A little more attention to patrolling the edges of the photo might have benefited this otherwise restful and bucolic photo

I saw this on TV recentl. The "expert" surmised that they were playing, and found pleasure rubbing against the boat's rudder.

Thanks, photogeneralist. Is this what you had in mind? I agree the foliage on the right side doesn't add much....I was taken by the appearance that the photo was taken in some deep, dark, overgrown swamp, while I knew the plants were all in pots in a shallow cement lined urban creek bordered by wide open brick walkways with shops and restaurants... not something a viewer would know.

Yes!!!!!

Overall it's a good photo, as the other prior commenters have noted. However it (IMHO) could be improved with judicious cropping so that the main blossom is at the bottom right 3rds intersection and the secondary blossom is the the top left. I think that this eliminates some superfluous foliage etc and makes the subject stronger. Of course there are different strokes>>>>>>folks.

You could have at least finished the editing before posting it ......

My very first thought when I read this comment was "What an ass! There are lots of ways to phrase this without getting so snarky about it.

Why is it that people discussing photo processing alway seem to be working under the assumption that
adobe products are required? There are many alternatives to Adobe. Some are even non-rental.

I want to print one of these but am having a hard time picking one. I will print it for a 12x12 frame....which one do you like best? Would you change any of the post processing on any of them?

Cindy The pose in #1 really speaks to me. A touch of color saturation and a bit of contrast really brings out the elk as the hero of th photo

I just bought a SONY a7rv camera and now looking for a lens.
The lens I'm looking for is a 28-300mm or near it.
It would be nice if it were a Sony or a Tamron.
Or somewhere close.

A 28-300mm is what I had on my Sony a99II that won't focus properly if I put it on an adapter and then on my a7Rv.

Anyone have any ideas?

As the range of zoom goes up the design compromises cause less excellent lenses. I got around this by getting several senses of differing focal length for my 1.5 crop sensor Sony a77 II It takes A mount lenses When I got my E mount full frame Sony A7 IV body i also got a Sony LA EA5 Adaptor so I could use my A mount lenses on a E mount camera body My lens quiver includes: an A mount 50 mm f2.8 1:1 macro Minolta lens (Slow to focus but very accurate and quite sharp), an A mount 24-105 Sigma art (sharp), an A mount Sigma Art f 30mm for crop sensor with just enough vignetting to highlight the subject, an ultra wide for crop sensor A mount 11-16 mm F2.8 Tokina (Severe full frame vignetting at 11 mm but almost none at 16 mm) and a Sony A mount 70-400 mm G lens (too heavy for extended hand holding). This wide variety of lenses all work well through the LA EA 5 adaptor using auto exposure and autofocus and gives me an usable 16 mm and a 1:1 capable macro along with an uninterrupted range of focal lengths from 24--400 mm. It is noteworthy that the LA EA 5 adaptor effects either the auto focus or auto exposure when shooting video (I don't do video and I've forgotten which is effected but still photography is uneffected) This all leaves me with the question.:

" Would the LA EA 5 adaptor on your Sony A7R V not allow you to use your A mount lenses left over from your A99II on your A7R
V as it does on my A7 IV?"

I hope they're able to free her. If they just wait for high tide, will she float off?

My guess its that the portholes (opening windows) in the side of the cabin were not sufficiently watertight to keep the water from flooding the interior. If that's true then she wouldn't rise with the tide.

Great timing! My wife and I just returned from a cruise visiting Spain, Italy, Greece, and Croatia on Sunday. She had her iPhone 14 Pro Max and I took my Lumix ZS70. Comparing our photos I feel the iPhone 14 did an excellent job and held up well against the Lumix. In fact, if you factor in the ease of carrying the iPhone 14 and its simplicity of use, I would probably choose the iPhone. I was carrying my iPhone SE along with my Lumix, so going to a better iPhone only would eliminate one extra thing to carry. Since we were on guided excursions and there are often crowds, there is little time to set up the "perfect shot". You take the shot as quickly as possible and move on. The iPhone does this well and gives great results. The other big advantage of using the iPhone is that you can immediately back this photo up in the cloud and post it for friends and family to see. We were in Venice on Saturday, the day before Easter, and it was very crowded, especially in St. Mark's Plaza.

This was my first trip with the Lumix ZS70. I normally carry a Sony RX100 vIII which I bought to carry on trips after I tired of carrying my heavier Sony kit/w lenses. The Lumix is heavier than the RX100 and, in my opinion, a little more difficult to use than the RX100. My thoughts now are to sell the Lumix ZS70 and purchase an iPhone 14 Pro. I may keep the RX100 a little longer but I think its days are numbered after having seen what the iPhone 14 Pro is capable of.

Scott Kelby has an excellent book on iPhone photography and has a lot of good advice. I have the Kindle version from Amazon. If you are interested in or thinking about getting into iPhone photography, this is a must-have.

I'll be going to Banff , Jasper and Icefield Parkway in mid June. I'm 81 yrs young and limited by COPD, Bad back (Post surgery) and am in recovery from radiation treatments and weakness inducing hormone therapy for cancer. My bad balance and the above makes anything much longer than 1 mile round trip on a mostly improved (smooth) path difficult. ( My rock hopping days are over until the darned hormone treatments wear off). Given my shortcomings, what landscape photo opportunities are likely to be within my reach?

I see field of view and angle of view used interchangeably a lot in photo tutorials. I have always thought that they are very different. Field of view is what you see in the seen. It is more a function of the sensor size for a given lens.
Angle of view is more related to the focal length of the lens. A wider lens ie. 35mm will have a wider angle of view than a 100mm lens.
The reason it is important is because wider lenses tend to have more perspective distortion. One of the reason 85mm is used more for portraiture than the 35mm. You can get the same field of view with both lenses by changing your distance and cropping but the angle of view will be noticeably different. Thoughts?

Seems to me that this whole thread is inconsequential. In any given photo the photographic effect is the same no matter which name you call it by.

To me, the most beautiful car ever made was the 1967 Pontiac GTO, what are your opinions?

I have yet to see a production vehicle whose beauty matches the Jaguar XKE. Aston Martin DB2-5 models are no slouch either. My favorite of all time though is the Mercedes 300 SL gull wing coupe
