Approaching Cumbres Pass
This certainly looks like a photograph made late in the 19th or very early 20th century. You succeeded very well in recreating that look.

So want to guess what this did?
My first look, based primarily on where you said you were (an old tobacco plant) when you saw it, I guessed a cigarette rolling machine. I don’t understand how it did the job it is supposed to do. An inside look would add clarity.

Mississippi at Portage Des Sioux
