To all, We will be in a remote cabin, having been dropped off, no AC (electricity), no car. There is solar for lighting, and propane for cooking. A Walkie Talkie for emergencies, with the travel time from people at least an hour away. I am looking for a reliable, able to be carried aboard an aircraft, power bank to recharge IPads and IPhones, cameras as well, although I do have several extra batteries as well.
Thanks for everyone's replies.
Mike
Thanks. Would you mind giving these devices brands and models? How long have you had them?
Thanks,
Mike
Hello all. My wife and I are taking a 2 week trip to the Falklands in November. We will be staying for at least 4 days in remote cabins with no A/C. How to charge cameras and devices? Why a power bank was made just for this purpose, right? I’ve spent the better part of the last 2 weeks researching these devices. There are a lot to choose from, and when I think I’ve found just the item, I read the negative reviews. Don’t last, customer service non existent, not actually delivering the promised watts, and on and on.
Then I thought, wouldn’t it be nice if the battery we had in our camera could be used to power another device. I have lots of camera batteries, but alas, Nikon apparently didn’t think of that.
Would appreciate any first hand experience any of you may have with this conundrum.
Thanks,
CM
Get an oversize poncho. Don’t cost much money, take up no room in your backpack.
We did it in October. We are 75, and it was the most grueling trek of our lives. We hired 3 porters, should have hired 4. They go rain or shine, rained on folks the day before, we had lots of sun. Actually too much sun. It was hot, and the sun did not make shooting the black fur easy. They are quite close, absolutely no need for a long lens. I used my 24 - 200. That hour goes by in a heartbeat. We would never do it again, too exhausting for older folks.
HIRE ALL THE PORTERS YOU CAN!!!

I have had the same experience. Someone on here quoted the manual, grab the hood by the collar where it attaches, not the end. Doing it that way has saved me a lot of frustration.

Thanks, That's what I'm looking for. Do you have your guides name and contact info?

We will have 2 full days in Santiago, both going and returning from the Falklands this coming November. Looking for any suggestions of how to fill our time.
Thanks,
CM
Only in breeding plumage, in the spring and summer.

Sorry, Long gone.
Thanks,

You asked, so… In my opinion there is not a single part of that image in focus, unless that was your goal. I believe you need a tripod for that type of shot.
Good luck,
CM
I only buy Apple to attach to my $1,200 IPad.
I have 2 of these that I no longer need. They are for sale everywhere at $37 each.
Any interest, $ 20 for one $35 for both, plus $7 shipping.
Any questions, ask.
Mike
All clicks are right clicks.
I had the same problem with Sonoma. Click on the desktop and you will open Finder. Click on Go in the menu bar, scroll down to home. In the side bar you will see your card denoted by the camera it was in. Click on the point on the right to eject. That is also where you will find your IPhone or Ipad to sync with the Mac.
