I have lost my way to remove my memory card from the card reader. Nikon z6 used to appear on the desk top and then went away somehow. Now every time I try to remove the card I get a removed improperly. I know there must be a simple way but I have not gotten far with apple. My computer is an I Mac Sonoma 14.2.1 if you need that. The camera name comes up in devices on photos when I insert the card in the reader but I can't move it to delete?
If it shows up as an icon on your desktop, all you need to do is click on it to select it, then choose "Eject" or "Eject disk" from the Finder's menu. A shortcut is to simply click on it and press the Command and E keys simultaneously.

Just a suggestion try a different usb cord, or just unplug the reader and plug it back in, or try a different reader
I had the same problem with Sonoma. Click on the desktop and you will open Finder. Click on Go in the menu bar, scroll down to home. In the side bar you will see your card denoted by the camera it was in. Click on the point on the right to eject. That is also where you will find your IPhone or Ipad to sync with the Mac.

You could shut down your iMac and disconnect the card reader while the iMac is down. Then restart the computer.

Not an Apple/Mac user but curious because I might try one of the new M series for my next computer. Right click, or left click?
All clicks are right clicks.
Or shut off cmputer and remove card then power on again

Two ways to see this card. One is on the desktop. Another is in the sidebar.
First, go to Finder -> Settings -> General and make sure "External disks" is checked. This will control whether any disks including memory cards that are mounted show up on the desktop.
Second, go to Finder -> Settings -> Sidebar and make sure "External disks" is checked. Then open a Finder window and go to Finder -> View and select "Show Sidebar" if that is available (otherwise "Hide Sidebar" will be available and the sidebar will be visible. The memory card will show up in the Finder window sidebar with an up arrow that will eject the card.

Have you already downloaded the files and want to delete? Just put the card back in the camera and format it.

The touch pad doesn’t have any buttons.
It responds to single tap or double tap. You can drag with one finger, two fingers, or three fingers for different actions as well.
